**Job Description Summary**

As a Senior Engineer - Carbon Capture Systems Architecture, you will contribute and lead development of advanced direct air & post combustion carbon capture. You will engage with and support the GE Power and GE Renewable Energy businesses as well as several United States government customers and partners. You will also be encouraged to explore new applications which are tied with other GE Industrial businesses or revolutionary ideas which have not found a home in a GE business yet.

**Job Description**

Essential Responsibilities :

+ The Carbon Capture Technology Breakout team performs advanced, leading-edge research in the areas of carbon capture areas. We focus on technology that enables both direct air and post combustion carbon capture. Our major customers include GE Power, GE Renewable Energy, US Dept. of Energy, and the US Dept. of Defense.

+ Opportunities will exist to lead technology development in systems that will ultimately lead to a carbon capture product. The project collaborations are required within the internal organization by actively working on system related aspects with the solvent & sorbent materials, contactors, and sorbent development teams.

As a Senior Engineer - Carbon Capture Systems Architecture, you will:

+ Work independently as well as guide development of new technologies and capabilities that enables both direct air and post combustion carbon capture and needs to be translated into existing and new products.

+ Determine system level performance requirements and develop fundamental system knowledge through fluid dynamic and mass transfer experimentation and modeling, system engineering cost analyses and sorption and separations mechanisms. Iteratively improve performance for various applications, such as carbon capture (direct air and post-combustion) and atmospheric water extraction.

+ Apply systems engineering principles, computational modeling tools, and experimental skills to develop process and system design insight. Use experimental data to understand sorption mechanisms and define the kinetic and thermodynamic factors impacting various unit operations.

+ Identify novel material system structures and system configurations with improved performance (flux, selectivity, etc.), greater reliability, and lower energy requirements, especially under relevant environmental conditions (pressure, temperature, flow).

+ Shaping of new proposal areas with GE businesses as well as multiple government agencies, universities and national laboratories. Contribute and lead proposal teams as Principal Investigators or as a team member.

+ Participate in the development of architecture of systems that enables direct air and post combustion carbon capture.

+ Guide development of system requirements into projects related to direct air and post combustion carbon capture.

+ Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and provide system architecture expertise in areas of direct air and post combustion carbon capture

+ Perform analytical work to define, meet or exceed customer entitlements.

+ Participate in the development and identification of new technology, product and service opportunities.
