Samsung has developed a proprietary ad platform that leverages the unique first party data from the Smart TV Platform to help brands connect to their audience as they explore content across desktop, mobile, tablets and our Smart TVs.
The Business Development Manager will report into the Director of Business Development, Ad Platforms and will work both internally and with partners on critical projects to drive Samsungs Ads business forward. This individual will focus mainly on the International domain, but will also have the opportunity to contribute in other areas of the ads business. This position will require ownership of the negotiation and contracting process, driving business projects from beginning to end, ownership of key operational work streams, and developing a well-thought-out perspective on industry trends and market opportunities.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, analytical, and solutions-focused with an ability to unravel internal complexity, navigate the organization, and come to a quick understanding of the business. The position will require excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to drive close collaboration with all areas of the business. The Business Development Manager must be a self-starter and will need to be comfortable working under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment
Role and Responsibilities
Support the International expansion of North American partnerships into applicable regions, such as Europe, India, Korea, Australia or Latin America.
Deep dive into local contractual and operational nuances, and establishment of global contractual frameworks covering business, legal and privacy remits.
Collaboration with internal international stakeholders covering sales, operations, legal, privacy, finance, tax, etc. to ensure holistic deal completion and partner set up.
Negotiate and execute legal agreements with key partners including, but not limited to MSAs, amendments, and renewals, while advocating for and negotiating new deal terms that might arise with partners
Work in lockstep with Product and Sales to help drive global strategy and growth
Operationalize the project management of complex deals by developing deal charts and supporting practices
Maintain and communicate project milestones effectively and anticipate potential risks or challenges
Assist in an effort to achieve global deal terms with some of Samsungs key programmatic partners
Provide thought leadership on platform and business strategy
Skills and Qualifications
BA/BS required, MBA/JD preferred but not required
8+ years of relevant experience working in a business development capacity
Deep experience in global or international partnerships, especially establishing these partnerships from scratch
Understanding of legal and privacy international landscapes, with focus on AdTech
Ability to deep dive into deal terms and solve contractual problems (figure out tax or finance flows, privacy nuances, money flows, etc.)
Preferred (but not required) to have lived in countries outside of US and speak an additional language (apart from English).
Comfortable with stakeholder management across different regions (time zones) and business units
Extensive project management skills and ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations
Analytical mindset, with ability to process data rapidly to come to right business conclusions
Experience with deal processes, contracting, and complex deal frameworks
Deep understanding of the digital media ecosystem with an emphasis on video advertising
Self-motivated, assertive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must
