Description
SAIC is seeking VMware Engineers to support the 805th Combat Training Squadron/Shadow Operations Center-Nellis (SHOC-N) at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV. Candidates will work with a leading-edge VMware environment supporting secure, multi-classification air combat training and experimentation. The ShOC-N team enables the planning and execution of hundreds of US and Allied air missions in major combat scenarios, and contributes to the Air Force Advanced Battle Management (ABMS) component of DOD Joint All-Domain Command & Control (JADC2) / evolution.
You will work as part of an integrated team of uniformed military, government civilian and contractor engineers focused on expanding enterprise hosting capabilities, new tools, new technologies, and infrastructure as code; playing a critical role in determining the future strategy and vision for this extensive Air Force VMware environment with thousands of virtual machines.
SAIC is hiring multiple engineers across several VMWare specializations/tracks, including Security, Network Virtualization (NSX-T/SD-WAN), End-User Computing (Horizon), and Multi-Cloud Management, Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Job responsibilities:
Maintaining, supporting, securing, and troubleshooting a multi-tiered VMware environment consisting of thousands of virtual machines hosting and integrating military combat mission planning, intelligence, and command and control applications.
Delivering software-defined data centers (SDDC), private/hybrid cloud environments and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines; using infrastructure-as-code.
Building a private cloud platform serving containerized and serverless workloads
Keeping up to date on the newest technological innovations in the field and be ready to apply relevant innovations to our software systems · Providing technical and project support for multiple large-scale projects that cross-cut multiple specialization and product development areas.
Applying advanced technical expertise to assist others with defining, analyzing, validating and documenting complex operating environments, states of technology and current engineering processes.
Providing advanced technical support to others involved in applying specialized knowledge to complex processes and requirements.
Supporting complex technical investigations through advanced research techniques, analysis or development phases of engineering projects.
Working with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of processes to improve quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology and 9 or more years’ experience; other work experience, degrees and relevant industry/VMWare certifications considered in lieu of degree requirements
2 years of experience working in a large VMWare environment
CompTIA Security+, CISSP or equivalent IAT II certification required
Current Secret Security Clearance, Top Secret clearance eligible, with ability to obtain TS/SCI (Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information)

VMware NSX-T Certification
Experience with and technical knowledge of, virtual networking technologies, NSX-T preferred
Experience with firewall and routing technologies
Experience configuring and monitoring network security layers
Solid understanding of configuring OSPF, ACL, VPN, and NAT
VMware Cloud Mgmt. and Automation Certification/SaltStack Certification
Experience with, and technical knowledge of, vRealize Automation, version 8.
Resource deployment from code via Cloud Assembly
Optimization and preparation for product roll out
vRealize Automation script development
vRealize Automation integration with SaltStack
Experience with developing workflows and actions using vRealize Orchestrator
Experience with systems like Gitlab, vRealize Code Stream, or Jenkins
Demonstrated experience with programming and/or scripting languages

Familiar with the secure baseline image development process
Familiar with vSphere/vCenter virtual infrastructure

VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist
Experience deploying and supporting VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize)
Expertise in Software Defined Data Center manage(SDDC)
Experience supporting Dell VxRail
Additional Specific Requirements: Demonstrated experience with programming and/or scripting languages
PowerCLI/Powershell
Familiar with vSphere/vCenter virtual infrastructure
Familiar with vROPs, vRLI, and other VMware components
