The Fitch Group Architecture team is seeking a Shared Services Architect to be part of a team supporting all business and support functions across Fitch for a high priority transformative initiative. This is a formative opportunity to influence and innovate as part of the new Architecture function. In this role, the Shared Services Architect will partner across business and technology teams to design and act as a lead and define future development of our reference implementations for streaming, Security and Database caching

The Architecture team's mandate is to coordinate and catalyze the adoption of new technologies and develop best practices across the Fitch Group.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background and understanding of present-day Streaming capabilities, has had hands-on experience , and has developed and deployed various streaming , Security, Database solutions with significant business impact. Familiarity with credit rating agency operations and the credit ratings business model is a strong plus, or more generally, experience in financial services is desirable.

Role Description:

  • Develop and support various streaming activities across Fitch; provide guidance and best practices to other engineering teams

  • Recruit, train and mentor Senior and Junior Engineers

  • Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to Engineers on various initiatives

  • Develop enterprise-level access control, observability of streams

  • Establish standards and best practices for Java Springboot application

  • Provide guidance and support on building production grade solutions for various data initiatives.

  • Partner closely with Engineering team as well as the Data team to deploy streams into the production environment

  • Work closely with business & product owners to implement various streaming solutions based on business priority

  • Explore current state-of-the-art streaming approaches and adapt existing code to solve business challenges

Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a comparable quantitative modeling or analytics role leading the team, ideally in the financial sector

  • Experience leading engineers and architects; participate in recruitment efforts, grooming the talent and providing ongoing support

  • Demonstrated experience in applying streaming and event driven techniques in the financial industry

  • Expertise with the credit ratings business and the workflow of a credit ratings analyst

  • Hands-on experience as a streaming engineer with a focus on consulting and storytelling

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with other leaders and associates throughout the organization

  • Team-oriented, with proven ability to work well and collaborate globally across multiple and disparate teams

  • Familiarity of various tools like Kafka, AWS MSK, Kubernetes, Docker, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MongoDB, Redis/Memcached

  • In depth understanding of the Kafka development and administration, including but not limited to access control, performance tuning and monitoing

  • Knowledge of applications of Streaming within the Financial Services sector, particularly Credit analysis and markets
