Build out and oversee a team of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) resources whose mission is to deliver a consistent, first-class end-user experience across the full suite of Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) product lines. Responsible for partnering directly with senior leaders across FRFS to ensure their products meets their vision. Responsible for building out UI/UX standards and training resources to adhere to them. Oversee 15-20 resources, working with delivery managers across the Function to ensure all teams are adequately staffed with UI/UX resources. This position is accountable for all technical, functional, performance, quality, and operational aspects of the team's areas of responsibility.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership, Management and Coaching
Direct oversight of 15-20 resources.
Guides, mentors, motivates, and develops direct reports to assist in professional growth and development
Provides goals for staff, conducts performance reviews, and provides career management assistance
Provides feedback to direct reports and outside of the team
Provides thought leadership in software development principles
Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new talent
Envisioning, Definition and Planning
Review the portfolio and work to create product specific backlog items to harmonize the portfolio over time.
Responsible for ensuring excellent clarity of requirements with acceptance criteria, customer collaboration, reaffirming requirements, and customer feedback loops to ensure that the developed product meets customer requirements
Provides support for high-level software development estimates, participates in portfolio planning, and provides refined detailed estimates as work gets closer to a known state
Develops a feature delivery plan for UX deliverables, estimating how different product features will be delivered; helps identify dependencies surrounding product features
Provides input to the overall PMO-managed program and/or portfolio plans
Communicates effectively with the team and all stakeholders by providing high visibility around actual and planned deliverables
Provides and receives input to the short-, mid-, and long-term architectural vision of the department
Delivery
Provide support for the delivery of software, quality of the results and deployment into all environments; takes ownership in maintaining stabilization leading up to and post-production
Ensures product and processes adhere to Federal Reserve development, project and architecture standards and timelines
Ensures product quality through monitoring of quality trends, test automation, defect tracking and root cause analysis
Following a production release, maintains visibility that a system operates as planned using performance statistics, appropriate logging and monitoring
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree or masters degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
5+ years of technical management experience overseeing 10+ resources; experience managing matrixed resources is desired but not required
5+ years of development experience with tools like Figma, Storybook, Adobe XD, UI Security
Development experience with React, Angular, Salesforce
Experience in developing HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, CSS-in-JS
Experience with common UX design practices and research methods (e.g. wireframes, prototypes, user flows, personas, etc.) and UX data analytics
Expert in web application accessibility tools like AXE, WAVE, JAWS
Knowledge of usability testing, user interviews and other research methods
Experience integrating and building Frontend and SaaS solutions on cloud, developing teams and solutions using DevSecOps, CI/CD tools, and driving Engineering excellence across cross-cutting teams
Software development experience with Java, Apex, APIs, familiarity with open-source software, current web development practices, and relational database technologies (SQL)
Experience leading or partnering with product teams, across multiple products and value streams
Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)is desired but not required
