As a Site Reliability Engineering Manager within PNC's Retail Technology Digital Run organization. This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii or Alaska. There is limited expectation for regular in person, in office activities.

This position will focus on the management of legacy systems through retirement and function as the Retail Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) manager helping to transform the way that Retail Run the Bank operates.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Experienced leader of technical team(s) operating in a 24x7 environment
Able and eager to teach/mentor resources at all levels to develop technical
skills and continuous improvement mindsets with the goal of enhancing SRE
resiliency
Experience with DevOps engineering or SRE
Strong working knowledge of modern development technologies and tools
such Agile, CI/CD, Git and Jenkins
Deep knowledge of Internet protocols and web services technologies such as
HTTP, TCP/UDP, SOAP, JSON and REST
Deep understanding of success measurement (SLI/SLO/SLA)
Deep understanding of performance measurement (MTTD, MTTR, MTRS)

Candidates should possess experience and detailed knowledge in the following:
Expertise in programming language such as Python, Java, and Go
Engineering and support of micro app/service architectures
Understanding of monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Jaeger
Application Platforms and Frameworks such as OpenShift, Java/Spring Boot

Responsibilities of this position:

Champion and partner with other retail technology leaders to implement SRE
frameworks and establish SLIs and SLOs to help drive the right focus on
operational excellence
Define and own the SRE OKRs and roadmap
Work with development teams throughout the software life cycle ensuring
sustainable software releases and full stack observability
Build and drive adoption for greater self-healing and resiliency patterns
Troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems.
Perform analytics on previous incidents and usage patterns to better predict
issues and take proactive actions.
Coach and mentor members of the SRE team.
Establish 24x7 SRE on-call rotations and escalation workflows

  • Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.

  • Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.

  • Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.

  • Maximizes staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.

  • Analyzes applications to ensure that all systems that are developed, meet business needs and specifications.

Competencies



Application Delivery Process Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, and formal application delivery methodologies; ability to utilize these in order to deliver new or enhanced applications.



Application Development Tools Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for the development and support of applications.



IT Environment Knowledge of an organization's IT purposes, activities and standards; ability to create an effective IT environment for business operations.



Work Experience






Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. At least 3 years of prior management experience is typically required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
