Beam Suntory was created in 2014 by combining the world leader in bourbon and the pioneer in Japanese whisky to form a new company with a deep heritage, passion for quality, innovative spirit and vision of Growing for Good. Headquartered in New York, Beam Suntory is a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings Limited of Japan. Our culture is anchored deeply in a set of core values, including our East-Meets-West Culture, Yatte Minahare spirit, Giving Back to Society, Delighting Consumers, responsibly and Embracing Diversity & Inclusion.
As part of the company's global 2030 ambition, the growth strategy calls to become the strong No. 2 premium spirits player in the U.S., including gaining two additional points of market share from the competition. This will be done through premiumization and by developing and executing on new platforms for growth, such as ready to drink beverages, the refreshment category and the trends toward convenience and lower alcohol (and calorie) cocktails.
The people of Beam Suntory are the custodians of brands that have heritages measured in centuries. In 1795, a farmer and grain mill operator named Jacob Beam produced the first barrel of whisky that would become Jim Beam, the company's flagship bourbon brand now overseen by seventh-generation Jim Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe. The history of Suntory began in 1899 when the founder Shinjiro Torii started producing sweet wines. Then in 1923, he courageously produced the first Japanese whisky. Today, Suntory is the No. 1 whisky distiller in Japan, known for its flagship single malt whisky Yamazaki, peated single malt Hakushu and blended whisky Hibiki.
At its core, Suntory has a "Yatte Minahare" spirit that encourages its team to dream big and relentlessly pursue their ambitions. These are the very same values and entrepreneurial spirit that have built Beam for more than 200 years and will guide Beam Suntory as a global leader in premium spirits.
Beam Suntory has recently committed to a 5-stage Global Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Process to support the new Brand House Operating model. The S&OP Process is an enterprise-wide integrated business planning process (IBP) for Beam Suntory to manage the delivery of its business goals and commitments over the 3-year strategic planning process. The S&OP process will help to achieve our growth ambitions and financial goals over the 3-year strategic planning horizon. This new process has differentiated our organizational structures between our longer term planning processes and our shorter term fulfillment and execution.
