Position description
Exempt position. Function independently and collaboratively with the laboratory leadership in performing supervision of laboratory staff - hiring and termination, performance review, coaching and corrective action and development of performance Improvement plans. Provides site operation oversight. Site responsibility may include technical oversight of work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. May perform a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, and act as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. May be responsible for instrument correlation, and method validation. Correlate data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. Participate in laboratory quality assurance programs and performance improvement activities. Assist with staff and student training, orientation of new employees, reviewing and updating procedures and providing direction and problem solving skills for laboratory functions. Implement standardization efforts in the laboratory.

Qualifications
Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, or a health/health sciences related field. Four years of experience actively working in a moderate or high complexity clinical laboratory. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices. Ability to be effective in a diverse work group. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise independent judgment and render decisions. Prioritization and problem solving skills Critical thinking skills required. Computer skills required. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of relevant factors which can influence testing results.

Working knowledge of laboratory information and reporting systems. Excellent working knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards. Knowledge of CLIA standards Experience with operational and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Demonstrate manual dexterity. Willingness to work at other sites. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
