Job Title: Supervisor of Programming

Salary: $68,601

Unit: Pathways to Public Safety Division

Position Summary:

The New York County District Attorney's Office ("DANY") has an opening for a Supervisor of Programming in its Pathways to Public Safety Division ("Pathways"). The Division is responsible for oversight and implementation of prevention initiatives, court-based interventions, and reentry. The goal of Pathways is to reduce recidivism and promote community safety. The Division works closely with community-based organizations, city and state agencies and the courts to matching appropriate participants with evidence-based programming to address substance use and mental health disorders, trauma, housing instability, workforce development, educational opportunities, and other areas of need.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the Division's case coordinators; case coordinators are responsible for reviewing criminal and social histories though reviewing records and participating in in-person meetings used to review potential and current Pathways participants.

  • Supervise paralegals who provide administrative and organizational support to Assistant District Attorneys ("ADAs") and case coordinators.

  • Assist in continued development of the Pathways Division including the design of positions, policies, procedures, and databases.

  • Research and help to educate lawyers and non-lawyers on best practices by developing partnerships and Division trainings.

  • Serve as a Division resource on services and treatment programs in areas such as violence prevention, reentry, substance abuse, mental health, youth, workforce development, and sexual behavior.

  • Assist in coordinating, visiting, and evaluating programs throughout New York City.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers and court personnel in all problem-solving courts.

  • Provide routine individual and group supervision to paralegals and case coordinators which includes reviewing cases and providing job performance feedback and support.

  • Maintain statistics and produce reports relating to Pathways placements and recidivism.

  • Responsible for reviewing records, participation in meetings with potential Pathway's participants and carrying a modest caseload.

  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Superior administrative, writing, and communication skills.

  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Experience working with databases and statistics.

  • Knowledge of the social service landscape in New York City.

  • Familiarity with the concepts of procedural justice, risk-need-responsivity, and problem-solving courts.

  • A strong belief that rehabilitative approaches to justice involvement and addressing root causes of criminal behavior can yield positive public safety outcomes when appropriate defendants are matched with the right services.


Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking ability a plus.

  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in the criminal justice and/or social services field a plus.


Commitment:

  • Two (2) year commitment to the Pathways Division.
