Job Description:
Responsible for applying interdisciplinary engineering skills in the technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for complex solutions or products. These solutions or products typically encompass non-information technology related engineering or scientific disciplines and may require hardware, aerospace, communications, cyber, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, or other specialized engineering domain knowledge. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into technical specifications.
What Youll Get to Do:
The Cloud Systems Engineers focus will be to work with engineering software developers across the Command to meet technical mission needs. This role requires the ability to update or develop applications or services to operate within cloud platform and/or infrastructure environments. The Cloud Systems Engineers must be able to evaluate on-premises apps and services for deployment to cloud environments through a robust understanding of source code, data structure, system workflow, and holistic architectural vision. The Cloud Systems Engineer must be able to recommend changes to baseline technologies and cloud architecture to better support on-going deployment and integration efforts. These efforts require additional focus to reduce vulnerabilities within the Commands environments. The Cloud System Engineer must also be able to use continuous integration and continuous deployments (CICD) pipelines hosted via the Commands cloud platform to meet proper security measures and allow for repeatable code usage.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate and develop pathway with on-premises developers and system administrators for moving apps/services to cloud environments
Plan and implement transition from internally hosted IT services and mission capabilities to the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) or Intelligence Community (IC) enterprise services or hosting sites by meeting their requirements
Plan and implement a data management plan for mission capabilities to support a transition to enterprise, cloud-based technologies
Collaborate and develop pathway with cloud DevOps and security members, to utilize CICD pipeline and resolve scan findings, understand all phases of the SDLC
Troubleshoot integration and/or deployment of apps/services with multiple teams and brief leadership, when needed, for decision support
Understand and recommend cloud architecture updates to effectively deploy code within the cloud environment(s), meeting the dev low, push high requirement
Create, update, and manage tasks within Agile tools, work with minimal supervision
Design code changes and condition data sets as needed for apps and services targeting the cloud for deployment; demonstrate experience with relational and non-relational DBs
Who you are/desired skills:
* 4+ years deploying software through traditional installs, virtual machines, or cloud technologies such as Kubernetes.
* 3+ years writing in a specific program language, such as Java, Perl, C, Python
* 1+ years of working with data structures to determine technically efficient ways to ingest and organize data
* 1+ years of cloud automation and integration, such as: Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation/Azure Automation, and/or GitLab, Jenkins, Concourse
Excellent team communication skills and sharing knowledge with less experienced team members to support development and deployment efforts
* DoD 8570 IAT Level III compliance
Education: Bachelors in STEM
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional (or Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud similar cert)
