In the Surgical Robotics (SR) business, part of Medtronic's Medical Surgical Portfolio, we believe patients around the world deserve access to quality care and improved outcomes. We strive to expand global access to care and reduce variability through robotic and analytics solutions.

A Day in the Life

See how the Hugo system is bringing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery to more people - in more places than ever before in this new system workflow test opportunity.

Facilitate the simulated workflow of a robotic surgical system for reliability testing in a test laboratory setting as if it were to be performed in an operating room under the supervision of the Lead System Workflow Project Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Train volunteers to use the robotic surgical system and execute specified surgical tasks.

  • Perform simulated bedside assist functions including positioning the system components, instrument exchanges, and introduction and removal of test materials.

  • Document system performance and usage.

  • Perform basic data analysis, generate reports, and activate the appropriate response mechanisms to issues observed during testing.

  • Perform manual setup and tear down activities, including cleaning of all equipment surfaces, and orienting medical equipment for daily storage and transport within the simulated OR.

  • Perform periodic workflows including manually transporting medical equipment throughout the facility, taking measurements to evaluate system functional performance over time, and emergency simulation or response activities.

  • Perform batches of repetitive cycling of ergonomic adjustments and interactions with user interfaces including buttons, switches, touch screens, and medical equipment control surfaces.

  • Work with development engineers to identify and implement continuous improvements to data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.

  • Coordinate with Lead System Workflow Project Engineer to ensure workflow consumables are available for each day's activities.

  • Coordinate with Reliability Engineers to ensure baseline and periodic system tests are conducted and documented appropriately
