Virtualization Silicon Design Engineer
The Role:
The AMD Semi-Custom Business Unit IP Systems Engineering Team is on the lookout for a dynamic, energetic IP Systems Engineer to join our growing team. We work with customers to develop new products with AMD IPs, previously including game consoles such as XBOX Series X and Sony PlayStation 5. As an IP Systems Engineer, you will drive the planning, validation, silicon bring-up and debug of AMD SOCs while working closely with internal teams and customers to meet product development milestones
As a key contributor to the success of AMDs IP, you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMDs abilities to deliver the industry leading technologies to market. The IP Systems Engineering team fosters and encourages technical innovation to showcase successes, provides opportunities to develop new technical knowledge, and facilitates career development.
Key Responsibilities:
Defining and executing the overall functional test plan and verification strategy for AMD Virtualization IP
Driving innovation to enhance capabilities in IP validation including tool & script development and technical & procedural methodology improvements
Debug of IP issues found during bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs
Work closely with supporting teams such as design, diagnostics, firmware, and driver
Support pre-silicon verification efforts such as FPGA-based emulation, simulation, and other software/hardware modeling framework
Lead collaborative technical discussions to drive resolution on technical issues and roll out technical initiatives
Preferred Experience:
Hands-on experience in setting up virtualized environments, with Windows, Linux and Hypervisor
Experience testing and debugging in Virtual machine
Experience testing in cloud-based server environments and remote management
Experience with Hyper-V, KVM, Vmware
Strong familiarity with AMD's dGPU products and drivers
Experience in digital logic and post-silicon verification
Strong programming/scripting skills (eg. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python)
Experience with debug techniques and methodologies
Self-starter, able to work independently & within a team and be flexible in terms of responsibilities
Excellent written and oral communication
Asset:
Familiarity with Cloud-based Operating systems (Win11, Ubuntu, Linux, Debian, RHEL)
Experience with Docker
Knowledge of HTTP and HTML an asset
Experience with GitLab and Visual Studio an asset
Experience with common lab equipment such as protocol/logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
Led process improvement initiatives to improve engineering quality
Academic Credentials:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
