Enso Village is seeking to find a Vice President of People and Culture to serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and participate in the development and execution of Enso Village strategic initiatives relative to creating a pathbreaking place to work and thrive.




This position develops and executes the overall People strategy that aligns with the organizations mission and objectives. This role will also work in alignment with the overall Culture and Values framework and expectations, guided by the organizations Values Integration leader, a close colleague. The VP directs the implementation a purpose-oriented culture across all roles and stakeholders, including policies and programs in areas including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, talent acquisition, people engagement and retention, learning and people development, pathways for growth, performance management, compensation, benefits and reward programs, safety and workers compensation, and employee wellness. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations relative to employment. Serves as Enso Village Compliance Officer and will require becoming knowledgeable in California labor law generally as well as labor law specific to RCFEs and CCRCs in California.(1)

Enso Village is a project of Kendal kendal.org, a nationally recognized support organization for senior living and Zen-inspired senior living, a part of the San Francisco Zen Center.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience




  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, however- a combination of education and work experience equivalent to a college degree + advanced preparation in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar area of study focused on the way that People relate to one another and the world.



  • A minimum of 7 years experience within the Human Resources/People profession



  • SPHR preferred



  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated experience as a Mentor or Coach



  • Strongly prefer Spanish language proficiency and/or the willingness to rapidly learn.



  • Must be an organized, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills



  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with team members



  • Be customer-service oriented and possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal



  • Have computer literacy and experience or capability to quickly learn HRIS, Timekeeping and Shift Scheduling software



  • Must possess excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability



  • Must be flexible, possessing strong organizational and time management skills




This Role Expects:




Participation in Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation the individual in this role must commit to participating in a rotation that would mean being available to take a phone call within 10 minutes and to be able to get to the community for issue escalation and resolution.
