Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyze, research, and resolve complex technical support issues related to the LMS reported by faculty and students. Coordinate efforts with other UTA departments as needed to resolve technical issues impacting multiple student- and instructor-facing systems.
1. Document full life cycle of issues to resolution in UTAs ITSM tool. Escalate issues to vendors Technical Support departmentsfor problems not resolvable by the CDE. Maintain the support resource knowledge database.
1. Configure the settings of the LMS and document settings and changes for various environments (PROD, BETA, and TEST). Install and test software integrations. Analyze and research bugs and other potential problems via the Canvas Community. Program scripts to retrieve and analyze LMS-related data.
1. Serve as team lead by assigning and monitoring the flow of support tickets to lower-level Instructional Technology Specialists;train Instructional Technology Specialists on the use of Canvas, Service Now (ticketing system), Respondus Lockdown Browser (test integrity), Unicheck (plagiarism detection), Ally (accessibility), and other applications as necessary; educateInstructional Technology Specialists on the troubleshooting process and departmental policies.
1. Assist the Training team by providing backup at training classes, webinars, and group sessions. Update the Training team on system updates, bugs, and policies.
1. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Instructional (also Educational or Learning) Technology, or related degree with strong experience in instructional technology. Three years of experience supporting delivery of distance education at an institution of higher education, including two years of learning management system administration experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Canvas application administration experience. Basic knowledge of Macintosh. Help desk and training experience a plus. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Basic API programming knowledge. Experienced in the support of web-related hardware, including PC, Macintosh, web conferencing (e.g. webcams, microphones, external storage.)
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Extensive experience supporting academic course delivery using learning management systems in a professional capacity. LMS administration experience. Excellent communication (written and oral), customer service and problem-solving skills via phone and email. Experience in technical support of varied desktop platforms, browsers, and related plug-ins. Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Salary: $5,416/month; $65,000/annual
Work Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm
