**What youll achieve**


From applied research to advanced engineering, Dells 5G R&D team will design and develop ground-breaking products & solutions, as a first-ever go-to-market for Dell in this space. Its a fascinating field of work. Your contributions will drive product architecture and implementation in support of building something from the ground up, all while working with colleagues across the business to ensure Dell products always lead the way.


The 5G NR Layer 1 Principal Developer will be a key member of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa R&D team. The team will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a technology new to Dell for addressing the demands of the 5G Radio subsystem for operators and to help our customers to exploit this significant market evolution. The candidate for this role will have significant work experience managing and technically leading software development teams leading to product delivery.


**You will:**


+ Develop software to support 5G NR Layer 1 Acceleration Card

+ Participate in all levels of technical activity: from design and development, unit testing, documentation, test automation, and hardware validation.

+ Create architecture and design documentation, as well as internal user documentation

+ Mentor less experienced developers

**Essential Requirements**


+ Strong software development fundamentals: interfaces, layers, modularity, testability, build systems, dependency management, etc.

+ Fluent in a scripting language, such as Python, as well as shell scripting

+ Experience with embedded Linux: boot loader, build environments, DTS, Linux drivers etc.

+ Strong knowledge of networking and communication protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SSH)

+ Experience with source control (Git)

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills


**Desirable Requirements**


+ 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience

+ Experience with structured software development, as well as agile methodologies

+ Experience developing Linux device drivers for PCI bus

+ Working knowledge in ARM architecture

+ Working knowledge in Yocto and buildroot
