Description:


We are seeking to hire an innovative and enthusiastic Sr Scientist or Associate Director

with synthetic biology experience and leadership skills to join a dynamic team that is dedicated to the

discovery of breakthrough therapeutics. The role involves engineering biosynthetic enzymes and creating diverse arrays of lasso peptides that are screened against targets of interest. Candidates will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and develop a cutting-edge platform in an exciting start-up environment, where everyone makes a difference.


Key Responsibilities:

Manage the synthetic biology team for discovery and optimization of lead lassotide therapeutics

Work with the leadership team to establish the R&D strategy, plans, and goals

Develop and implement strategies for generating and screening lasso peptide analog libraries

Develop methods for engineering lasso peptide biosynthetic enzymes with the desired properties

Develop high throughput methods and assays for discovery of natural and evolved lasso peptides

Advance methods to generate high diversity lasso peptide libraries through display technologies

Acquire, evaluate, interpret, prepare, and clearly present experimental results

Always follow laboratory safety procedures and wear PPE in the lab



Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline such as molecular biology, synthetic biology, biochemistry, or

biological engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience in a biotechnology or

pharmaceutical setting, or M.S. degree with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience

Experience managing a team of scientists and working in a multi-disciplinary environment

Skilled in recombinant DNA techniques, cloning methods, strain engineering, and bioinformatics

Experience with protein evolution and/or display technologies (e.g., phage or yeast) is preferred

Experience with LIMS systems for managing, tracking, and visualizing data

Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-driven work environment

Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
