Our Restructuring practice offers critical assistance to companies that are under-performing or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis. Working directly with company management, Alvarez & Marsal helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvements. Alvarez & Marsal's involvement reassures creditors that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and maximise its value.
The A&M European Restructuring team has focused on big ticket company side financial and operational restructuring assignments in addition to CRO/CEO/ CFO appointments and, within the last few years, we have delivered on some of Europe's largest restructuring cases such as Abengoa, Edcon, Toys R' US, Nyrstar, Seadrill, Intertoys, Debenhams and Isolux.
Main responsibilities:
Work with senior team members to deliver European and International client projects through the management of multiple work streams, focusing on financial and operational restructuring and corporate turnaround
Quickly understand a client's rapidly changing situation to enable creative and innovative solutions/options for businesses and their stakeholders
Offer critical assistance to companies that are under-performing or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis
Work directly with company management & help to stabilise financial and operational performance
Support business development activities including the creation of client pitches and proposals to win new mandates
Examples of projects include;
Financial and Operational Restructuring
Cash & liquidity management, forecasting and reporting
Short term cash flow forecasting frameworks
Asset Sales and strategic M&A support
Cross-border wind-downs
Contingency planning
Preparation and validation of business plans for company management teams
Detailed contract reviews
Independent business reviews
Strategic advisory, CRO, stakeholder management, and interim management roles
Stakeholder reporting on PMO cost saving initiatives
Profit Improvement (Revenue enhancement and Cost Reduction)
Transformation program management
The ideal applicant should have:
Experience gained with the Corporate Recovery / Restructuring practice of a leading Advisory firm, 'Big 4' firm, Bank or within corporates dealing with turnaround projects
Experience working with operational and finance teams within complex and large distressed organisations
Strong academic background with Bachelors/Masters from a leading Business School
Previous experience in contributing to work streams ensuring effective deliverables with minimal supervision
Experience of building or working with integrated financial models and have strong Excel/PowerPoint skills
Interested in business development activities including the creation of client pitches and proposals
Native or Fluent language skills in both Finnish and English is essential. Additional Nordic/European language skills are highly advantageous.
