Job Summary:
This senior technology role will be instrumental in delivery of Allied Worlds Modern Data Platform strategy and will lead and grow the data engineering team. This role will serve as a thought leader for the entire organization on cloud-based data engineering and will need to work with business and technology leaders across the company.
Job Duties:
Lead, oversee and grow the data engineering team at Allied World
Drive and lead the delivery of Allied Worlds cloud-based modern data strategy
Modernize the skillsets and practices of the current corporate data team to set them up for success in Allied Worlds new cloud-based data platform
Set and mentor on engineering practices and standards for data engineering
Foster an iterative, agile and DevOps-based culture that produces predictable and stable delivery of products and platforms
Build a metrics-driven operational culture with a focus on observability, logging, monitoring, alerting and on-call practices
Act as a technical liaison between engineering, infrastructure and support teams
Job Requirements:
5+ years of experience with python
Direct experience managing data engineering teams
Experience with Amazon Web Services: RedShift, S3, Athena, etc. and industry standard data warehousing technologies: Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, etc.
Experience with a modern, git-based CI development workflow
Familiarity with IaC tools: CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.
Familiarity with relational modeling, database applications and integrations, ETL tools, client/server solutions and modern query languages
Familiarity with industry standard Reporting tools: Looker, Tableau, etc.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MSSQL
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges
