**Role Description**
Business Advisory Services (BAS (https://www.citivelocity.com/cv2/go/BusinessAdvisoryServices) ) is a strategic consulting and thought leadership team within the Investor Sales & Relationship Management function within Citi Markets. The team provides strategic advice based on proprietary thought leadership to the C-Suite and executive management teams of Markets investor clients across a broad range of topics specific to the global investment management industry. Clients include the worlds leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Private Equity Firms, Wealth Management Firms, Pension Funds, Endowments & Foundations, and Sovereign Wealth Funds.
The team produces regular primary Thought Leadership reports that explore different topics across the investment management landscape and are used to highlight and discuss key trends impacting the overall industry. Based on these views, the individual will also provide Advisory and Consulting Services to select clients. The team interacts across other Citi business lines including Citi Ventures, the Citi Global Wealth, and Securities Services, and provides some internal consulting on strategic initiatives as they relate to the evolving requirements of investor clients of these divisions.
The BAS team houses a FinTech and Digital Assets Innovation practice area which tracks how the application of new technologies (e.g., alternative data, AI, automation, and blockchain) is impacting the investment and wealth management industries.
The individual will lead this focus areas for the team and associated workstreams, becoming a subject matter expert on those topics for the team and with our clients.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Track FinTech and Digital companies and innovations, including via first-hand engagement with the startup and VC community
+ Identify key implications for investor clients (disruptive potential, development of new capabilities, emergence of new investing models) across the investment process, product development and delivery, and operational infrastructure
+ Lead BAS content pieces across FinTech & Digital Assets areas and provide key input around these innovations for flagship BAS publications
+ As part of the broader team mandate, participate in the creation of primary Thought-Leadership on the investment management industry via interviews, brainstorm sessions, storyboarding, data analysis, and writing
+ Lead client sessions to deliver content around FinTech & Digital Asset themes and engage with the C-Suite and Executive management of our investor clients. These sessions will involve acting as a strategic advisor to the clients teams.
+ Lead and / or support the planning and execution of bespoke consulting engagements geared to help specific clients assess and evolve their own offerings to reflect emerging FinTech & Digital Asset trends; develop client-tailored FinTech & Digital market maps of relevant providers.
+ Liaise with Innovation-focused groups within Citi including Citi Ventures, Markets Strategic Investments, Digital Assets Strategy, Global Data Insights to co-partner around client engagements, provide input into BAS content pieces and, conversely, help inform Citis own strategy around FinTech & Digital Assets based on BAS work.
**Key Skills:**
+ **FinTech & Digital Assets Background:** Knowledge of the Investment Management industry and associated business functions, including product manufacturing and distribution. Good understanding of Capital Markets industry infrastructure and trade flows between participants Insight and knowledge about the FinTech industry and a personal network with key players (VC companies, technology companies, etc.) Management consulting experience and experience with developing frameworks and models for industry growth and evolution.
+ **Strong Writing and Presentation Skills:** Client communication is at the core of the Business Advisory Services offering, and the individual should be a proactive, detail-oriented communicator both with clients, and internally within the team and other Citi colleagues. The individual should also feel comfortable presenting Business Advisory Services FinTech & Digital, as well as broader work to various senior audiences and also engage in tailored and dynamic strategic advisory sessions. The individual will also be responsible for driving the BAS content agenda on FinTech & Digital topics.

The individual should be able to listen to this input and identify how these views might indicate that the world is changing and apply such insight to envisioning how the future might unfold.

+ **Self-Starter & Entrepreneurial Mentality** : Self-starter who can own their analysis and deliverables, and operate independently as BAS are often spread out around the globe working on parallel initiatives. The ideal candidate will need to be resourceful creative as this subject matter is extremely dynamic. The pace of change is rapid and being able to grasp the new offerings and their impact on Investment Management will require a good conceptual understanding of the industry and of the new technology landscape.
**Experience:**
+ A minimum of 5-7yrs relevant work experience in financial services and/or financial services technology, within a Markets organization, buy-side or consulting firm.
