ROLE SUMMARY
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is an over a trillion dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives.
NTAM has embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize its data and analytics capabilities and embed a data-driven culture throughout the organization. This person strengthens the impact of, and provides recommendations on business analytics that will be made available and shared consistently across the organization through the identification, definition and analysis of how information assets aid strategies and business outcomes. The Data and Analytics program manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of all data analytics projects from inception to landing in production.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with key business unit leaders, IT partners and other stakeholders to lead planning, execution and reporting of business critical data analytics products and solutions from a program management perspective.
Work with the business to understand their digital data and analytics objectives. Help develop requirements by evaluating how analytical data can be developed, accessed and governed. Create the value of data across the organization by making the data usable for analytics for NTAM to gain competitive advantage in the financial markets.
Lead program management of data analytics solutions. This will include following standard project methodology (keeping in mind triple constraints of Time Cost and scope to execute appropriately), identify and track project risks, develop project status reports for working group and executive committees etc.
Develop and improve processes and documentation such as work intake, review and approval, data issues management, Center of Excellence Portal etc.
Conduct Data and Analytics literacy programs, seminars and conferences to share and spread data and analytics knowledge and culture.
Facilitate any vendor meetings and POCs for appropriate selection. Create a vendor selection process.
Create SharePoint site for the project to organize project and program documents
Create a process to record business requests and prioritize the requests with the business stakeholders.
Track any third party vendor or supplier's book of work thar relates to the project.
Create a cadence of management reporting via steering committee and / or working groups. Develop appropriate management reports using Powerpoint.
Develop and track budget for the program and report on it monthly.
Manage Data Analytics projects in the organization. Work in an Agile methodology with sprint planning and delivering to maximize business impact.
Lead a team of developers and business analysts to translate data and analytics requirements into a solution based on system capabilities.
Provide thought leadership to the team and maintain a culture of collaboration. Partner with Information Architecture team for evaluation and selection of fit-for-purpose data tools.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience leading the development and delivery of delivery of data analytics products and solutions
Experience leading transformational and culture change initiatives.
Must have proven project management skills and a strategic mindset. Should be able to drive change in an organization.
Strong presentation skills at executive level. Ability to develop compelling business case and reports using Powerpoint or similar tools.
Understanding of the asset management business domains with the ability to determine the primary use cases for Data and Analytics.
Experience with distributed data and analytics platforms in cloud and hybrid environments. Also an understanding of a variety of data access and analytic approaches (for example, microservices and event-based architectures). Knowledge of data and analytics technology and platforms, development methodologies and related processes, especially in asset management / buyside space.
Strong knowledge of SQL. Some understanding of data platforms and related tools such as Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, data warehouses (Snowflake, DataBricks etc.), cloud data platforms (Azure or AWS data tools), ETL tools and Data Governance platforms (Collibra) and analytics/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques.
Strong communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create marketing and messaging materials that meet stakeholder needs.
NECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
15+ years of experience in leading program management of data platforms and solutions for large organizations
Must have led large programs in Data and Analytics space.
At least 5+ in asset management/investment management is highly desired.
Bachelors degree in field like Computer Science, Information technology, Math, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Finance (with focus on analysis) etc.
Working knowledge of data analytics tools used in NTAM like Snowflake, Collibra etc.
