Data Scientist- Clinical Outcomes Research
Role Summary:
The Data Science Advisor - Clinical Outcomes Research position in Digital & Analytics is an opportunity for an analytics professional to provide leadership on complex analytics projects and initiatives supporting Integrated Health Plan Pharmacy. This role will work with an innovative team on setting and executing the vision for how advanced embedded analytics can lead Cigna to achieving our growth goals.
We are looking for a Data Scientist to conduct opportunity analyses, program evaluation and support Pharmacy Therapeutic Class Strategy/Clinical Condition analytics work to drive business decisions supporting Cigna's Pharmacy Integrated Medical business. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on analytical projects supporting other benefit domains such as Medical Behavioral Health, Dental and Disability with the goal of performing Integrated Analytics to support the enterprise.
This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.
Job responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with Rx Clinical stakeholders to advise on strategic analytics that helps drive data driven decision making to support Integrated Health plan' Formulary strategy, Clinical Program Strategy and Clinical Product Design.
Lead analyses related to Cigna's Total Cost of Care Strategy with a focus on clinical conditions and related medications/treatment (root cause analyses, Health Outcome Studies, Opportunity analysis including descriptive and multivariate statistics to identify patterns in the data.)
Perform Causal inference Studies, Matched-case control studies and/or randomized control trials for determining the effectiveness of clinical programs and clinical outcome studies.
Execute and apply advanced analytics techniques to evaluate and inform initiatives that will help achieve improved affordability and drive membership growth.
Build models using machine learning tools (DataRobot, Domino Analytic Platform) or various statistical packages in SAS,R and Python.
Explore and visualize the data using advanced tools such as including pandas, matplotlib and Seaborn, Tableau, and Looker. (Largely Tool agnostic environment)
Extraction and analysis of large healthcare claims data using state of the art big-data SAS, SQL, R, Teradata, Hadoop, etc.
Qualifications:
BS/MS/PhD in Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Data Science , Health Outcomes, Epidemiology, Statistics, or in any technical field that provides a solid basis for analytics highly desired.
5+ years of industry experience in solving Health Plan or Pharmacy Benefit Manager business problems through the application of advanced analytic approaches.
Prior experience in Healthcare analytics (preferably PBM Analytics), Clinical Outcomes, Real World Evidence, Care Management Programs.
A demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate (both verbally and written) analytic and clinical data (i.e., claims) to a varied audience.
Deep healthcare data experience (e.g., PBM experience, Provider Networks, Billing, Medical and Pharmacy claims), statistical analysis experience, and an understanding of all the associated clinical, utilization and financial levers.
Experience with statistical software/programming languages such as SAS, R, Python and other tools.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Thoughtspot, Quicksight and Looker.
A data-driven personality w/ Intellectual curiosity and internal motivation; uses deep analytics knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders and provide thought leadership
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $95,800 - $159,600, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
