Director Senior Technical Architect - Optimization and Performance

**Job Description:**
Responsible for defining an architectural vision and architecture for large complex solutions, which aligns with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology, and platform choices. Describes the solution intent and the associated operating environment, determines the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, defines non-functional requirements and architectural runway to support new epics/features, and expands into new opportunities. Ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions. Contributes to best practices, standard templates, and the architecture roadmap for defined domains. Contributes to the creation of the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data, and Technology) in support of the product roadmap. Contributes to the development of best practices including standardized templates. Works across business and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for large complex solutions and evolve it based on an emerging backlog. Leads rapid shaping of a high-level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements; ensures architecture is flexible and modular and designed to adapt easily. Facilitates solution-driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through practical experiments and POCs. Works with Product Manager/Owner to plan and prioritize technology-focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features and expand into new opportunities. Clarifies the architecture for the development teams to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments. Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (e.g. security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability). Supports the Principal Engineer as needed to select the technology stack needed for solutions, and helps select preferred technology products. Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions. Individual Contributor.
**General Overview:**
The Global Securities & LATAM Technology is part of the Global Markets Operations Technology (GMOT) division at Bank of America.
The candidate will be a member of the Global Securities & LATAM Technology leadership team and will be responsible for:
+ Optimization of the applications across the Securities stack
+ Works with the Domain Leads to deliver technical solutions that improve application performance, increase stability, and align to strategy where possible
+ Reducing risk across our technology portfolio by aligning to an architecture strategy that enables consistency, integration, and automation
+ Reduce the AITs in the legacy stack by consolidating AITs that perform similar capabilities
**Responsibilities:**
+ Will review, analyze, and recommend technology implementation improvements across the GSOT application portfolio
+ Will work closely with technology leadership to review and prioritize applications for deep dives
+ Will work closely with technical leads, architecture, infrastructure, production support, and data teams to fully understand application implementation, significant issues, performance characteristics, future plans, and compliance with firm and divisional technology goals and plans
+ Will produce reports for selected applications that outline design and implementation characteristics, remediation options, and recommended course of action
+ The candidate will liaise with GSOT, Ops Tech Architecture, Infrastructure, implementation, Data, and SORs, understand evolving BoA best practices, and adopt those practices. The focus will be on common Agile, DevOps, Horizon, test-driven development adoption, and improvement
+ The candidate will review applications and platform solutions for opportunities to safely consolidate applications with similar capabilities to help reduce the capacity required to maintain multiple applications and operational risk
+ Will work directly with peers to augment their teams technical skills and deliver better solutions moving forward
+ Will directly manage selected cross-functional projects where warranted, i.e. legacy platform retirement, shared platform adoption, etc.
+ Active participant in all other Architecture Steering review requests to ensure compliance with the defined technical blueprints
**Required Skills:**
+ Technology professional with comprehensive knowledge of Capital Markets and technology solutions
+ Experience (5 to 7 years) in Leading and influencing Global teams to achieve a common outcome
+ 15+ years of experience designing, developing and managing business-focused, scalable, and distributed applications
+ Extensive experience (10+ years) resolving integration and cross-platform issues across complex technical stacks
+ Extensive hands-on experience with Scala, Java, .Net, AMPS, MQ, Sybase, MsSQL, and Oracle database servers including yet not limited to performance & tuning of database servers
+ Knowledge of Post-trade events middle office and back-office activities
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience in modern application development and deployment (Automated Testing, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery)
+ Bachelors or masters degree in software development or related discipline
+ Knowledge of Front office domain as well as products across Global Markets

**Jersey City pay range:**
$128,200 - $180,000
annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
