SAIC is seeking a mid-level Dynamics Simulation Analyst Engineer in support of the OSAM-1 (On-orbit Servicing Assembly and Manufacturing) program in the (NeXIS) Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This position is in Greenbelt, MD.
The OSAM-1 (formerly Restore-L) mission is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the OSAM-1 Space Vehicle (SV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct SV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. GSFC is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the OSAM-1 Mission through an integrated team at GSFC. The Servicing Payload design, development and SV integration will be conducted at GSFC.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The engineer will perform robot and spacecraft multibody dynamics co-simulations using Matlab/Simulink, as well as scripting such as Bash, Linux, and LaTeX. Simulations will interface with MSC’s ADAMS software, although others will be responsible for ADAMS models. Simulations will be used to study the dynamics and performance of spacecraft servicing robot systems.
Job duties include:
Develop infrastructure products (scripts) for the ADAMS Simulation in Matlab, Bash/Linux scripting (example- AWK & Sed) and LaTeX for report generation
Develop automation scripts and singleton scripts
Software testing – unit testing, functional testing and system acceptance testing
Assess complex issues and recommend resolution to the team and management; implement resolutions
Ensure that the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the technical documentation, reports, and deliverables comply with NASA and OSAM-1 standards, project plans, and policies
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in systems, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering, or closely related field with 5+ years of related experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
Proficiency scripting in MATLAB, Bash/ Linux & LaTeX.
Knowledge of software engineering principles, tools, and processes
Experience in simulation/ dynamic analysis
Experience in authoring and maintaining technical documentation
Proficiency in resolving technical and schedule issues in order to ensure that deliverables are met on schedule
Desired Experience:
Experience in spacecraft control, robotics and dynamics is a plus
Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
