Job Description
The Electrical Engineering (EE) Intern will work directly with Senior EEs to design, prototype, and test sensors, circuit boards, and electromechanical assemblies. This part-time position requires on-site work at our Stillwater, OK, facility and is intended for undergraduate students in electrical engineering or a related field. US Citizenship is required.
The EE Intern will perform a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical design, test and troubleshooting tasks related to sensors intended to detect explosives and industrial gases. The EE Intern tasks may include assisting with the design of new analog and digital circuits, writing firmware, building prototypes, and performing design verification tasks. As needed, the EE Intern will be trained in wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable fabrication to support design development, prototyping and testing. The EE Intern will work in a multi-disciplinary project team, including Engineers and Scientists in both Research & Development and Manufacturing departments.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists Senior EEs to design circuits and assemblies using Altium or similar PCB tools (helpful to have SolidWorks or equivalent experience to assist with mechanical interface components).
Generate schematics and design PCB layouts for 3rd party production of PCBAs.
Create and/or update product drawings, work guides and specifications.
Assists Senior EEs to design analog and digital electronics including but not limited to DAC/ADC circuitry, sensor interface, and microprocessors for system control and communications.
Assists Senior EEs to create firmware/software to allow proper operation and interface for handheld and/or unmanned vehicle sensors (Linux OS preferred).
Assists Senior EEs to build prototypes and perform design verification including the creation of test plans/procedures, test fixtures, test reports and debugging of hardware/firmware issues.
Work with manufacturing to define and implement test fixtures/processes and assembly procedures.
Create, review and maintain engineering documentation, including PCB design documentation, wiring diagrams, cable drawings and build and test procedures.
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
On-site work at our Stillwater, OK facility.
