We are seeking an Embedded Infotainment Software Engineer to join our growing Automotive OEM team at our location in the Kansas City area. You will be part of an embedded software team responsible for development of Tuner technologies for Garmins state-of-the-art automotive infotainment products. You will be involved in developing moderately complex software as well as creating and executing designs for small sets of new functionalities.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Creates and executes designs for small sets of new functionalities as part of a software project using C/C++.
Utilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process
Researches fundamental problems and implements algorithm solutions that are appropriate
Participates in peer technical code review providing comments and/or suggestions
Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given issues
Contributes to technical research on new technologies
May mentor less experienced software engineers
Offers process improvement suggestions and evaluates new options of similar technology for future growth
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree OR Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated proficiency with designing well architected software systems and modules that support new technology or improve capability/performance of existing functionality
Demonstrated capability to offer peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies and software designs
Possess detailed knowledge and experience with software development including experience with C/C++ on embedded systems
Good knowledge of software engineering tools such as git, gdb, kdb, valgrind
Experience working with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
Experience with Linux device drivers, Linux kernel, and protocols such as I2C, SPI, I2S
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Experience in developing Tuner (Broadcast Radio) technologies like FM, HD Radio or Hybrid Radio
Experience with Agile methodologies
Ability to read and understand schematics
Experience with Google test framework and/or test-driven development
Experience with Android internals (HAL and HAL services)
