Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking a self-motivated, Environmental System Technician in the Tucson area to support our Tucson, Arizona office's growing environmental project portfolio. This position consists of 100% field work, including overnight regional travel to and from job sites. This position requires a hard-working, safe, efficient, and dedicated employee that is excited to receive on the job training, working with a team, and able to work independently once trained. This position offers an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of environmental projects and work with a great team.

Role accountabilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Groundwater and soil remediation system operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM)

  • Knowledge of various remediation system operation (e.g. soil vapor extraction, air sparging, dual phase extraction), system equipment and maintenance associated with the systems/equipment (i.e., carbon change outs, air strippers, blowers, different pump types, water chemistry)

  • Understanding of remediation system telemetry and primary logic controls

  • Troubleshooting and optimizing remediation systems

  • Completion of repairs to remediation systems

  • Collection of environmental data from air, soil, and water during remediation events and during system operation

  • Completion of small construction-type jobs such as concrete work, fence removal, HDPE/PVC piping construction

  • Working with hand/power tools to change out pumps, fittings, flanges, filters and gauges

  • Groundwater, soil, and/or surface water sampling

  • Sampling associated with remediation systems (influent/effluent) and other types of compliance discharge sampling

  • Subcontractor Oversight for field projects and remediation system installations

  • Site Visits and Documentation

Key Attributes:

  • Ability to document site activities/notes and provide communication to project team

  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with guidance from subject matter experts

  • Ability to work over 95% in the field at times requiring out of town travel

  • Mechanical aptitude

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience working in a systems-based environment (i.e. HVAC, automotive, or maintenance of any form)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification

  • NFPA 70E Qualified

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

  • Previous experience operating, maintaining and monitoring remediation systems (e.g. soil vapor extraction, air sparging, dual phase extraction)
