Hardware Engineering Technical Leader - Analog Signal Acquisition and Board Design
3 years ago

What You'll Do

You will do in-house hardware design of the onboard power measurement subsystems for the next generation Cisco DC microgrid technologies. You'll handle schematics and guidance of ECAD engineers from anywhere. You'll verify designs in-person in the lab. You'll shepherd products through manufacturing and help prepare our sales and support teams for deployments into the field. Most importantly, your innovations will directly impact the Common Hardware Group's contribution to Cisco's NetZero goals by developing core technologies that will get re-used throughout Cisco's portfolio.

Who You'll Work With

You'll be working with a dedicated team that has delivered groundbreaking products such as Catalyst 9200 and 9300 Power over Ethernet (PoE) Ethernet Switches and Catalyst 9300 StackPower. This team includes both hardware and embedded developers who have helped Cisco ship millions of units worldwide to connect and power networks. You will have guidance from the field via sales and marketing to help guide your design. You will also work with our award-winning supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth product launch.

Who You Are

You have the experience or the strong desire to grow your ability to:

  • Design reliable, cost-effective analog signal acquisition and related digital hardware circuits from scratch

  • Carefully analyze accuracy and dynamic range of measurement circuits

  • Supervise and guide PCB layout of the signal acquisition circuits

  • Perform methodical bring up of prototypes in the Cisco Austin, TX lab during the applicable design phases and carry out engineering bring up test plans that you've prepared

  • Develop hardware via thorough test programs while maintaining schedule commitments

  • Communicate effectively with teams in a hybrid work environment, through a variety of both online and offline collaboration methods as appropriate for the challenge at hand

For this senior design role the minimum qualifications are:

  • Proven experience in analog to digital measurement system design

  • BSEE and at least 8 years of applicable work experience OR an MSEE and at least 6 years of applicable work experience OR a PhD and at least 3 years of applicable work experience

Bonus points for the following hardware design strengths:

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) or similar remote powering systems

  • Wireline networking communications technologies such as IEEE 802.3 Ethernet or related technologies like Power Line Communications (PLC)

  • AC and DC building-scale powering technologies and their related safety subsystems, (i.e. Circuit Breakers, Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI), Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI), etc.)

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their businesses, AND we are a hardware company, a software company, and a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do you cant put us in a box!

Cisco is at the vanguard of impact: delivering our technology in meaningful ways allowing people to live more fulfilling and richer lives. It's why we exist. We are a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Dont care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? Thats cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us!
