Intel Labs Compute Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Intel Labs (IL) Research Infrastructure is looking for an infrastructure devops engineer to help define and drive a vision for modernizing the organization's compute infrastructure - in support of unique requirements presented in a research and development environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for an ongoing environmental scan of organizational capabilities, identification of opportunities to improve compute/storage/collaborative applications, and leverage their deep technical expertise to maintain and evolve the environment.

The candidate will work with a small team of engineers and technicians to realize the modernization vision, leading to significant business and strategic impact by reducing time and other hurdles for researcher access to infrastructure solutions - focusing on providing flexibility across a broad research investment portfolio in a cost effective manner.

Qualifications

You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences

Minimum Qualification:

• The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar

5+ years’ experience in below areas:

• Developing, maintaining, and supporting datacenter networking and datacenter compute solutions.

• Excellent customer communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical researchers

• Linux, datacenter networking, HPC systems, servers, and the storage infrastructure.

• Mix of creativity and analytical skills that allow for accelerated root cause troubleshooting of complex problems independently and with team.

• Cluster Management: Experience deploying, training, supporting, and managing Kubernetes, SLURM, PBS, and/or other schedulers. GPU equipped clusters a plus.

• Systems Management: Experience managing and driving sustaining efficiency for heterogeneous Windows and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) systems and related services infrastructure such as Active Directory, DNS, Zabbix monitoring, security compliance, and Chef configuration management.

• Network Management: Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco ethernet and Infiniband switching, IPsec tunneling, and other network components. Cloud experience with AWS/Azure/GCP a plus.

• Storage Management: Experience deploying, managing, and optimizing performance for NFS, iSCSI, ZFS of file systems scaling up to hundreds of terabytes. BeeGFS experience a plus.

• Virtualization: Experience managing medium to large virtualized environments deployed on VMware, Proxmox and KVM.
