Lead Chromebook Firmware Engineering Manager
The Role:
Exciting opportunity within the Client Chrome System Engineering development team working on latest cutting-edge CPU/APU technologies. In this role you will be responsible for leading firmware development for AMD Chromebooks. You will provide leadership across AMD, Google, and customer firmware development teams to successfully develop and bring to market AMD Chromebook platforms.
The Person:
The ideal candidate has experience doing BIOS port, bring up, and support through product launch of Chromebooks/coreboot based platforms. A candidate who has experience with UEFI firmware development or Linux kernel/driver development is also attractive. The candidate will have a history of building and leading teams to meet business needs in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for efficiency and quality. In this role you and your team will work closely with Google and the end customer, debugging and resolving issues in a timely manner. Strong communication skills are very important.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of coreboot and other component firmware engineers to support porting and bring up of coreboot firmware for Chromebook platforms
Work closely with customers to address and resolve firmware related issues
Able to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment
Work to enable features, optimize performance, and improve reliability
Able to multi-task between several customers & platforms
Improve development efficiency & quality of firmware deliverables
Experience:
Technical and team leadership in firmware development
Strong knowledge of coreboot (preferred) or UEFI BIOS
BIOS, firmware, or system software development
Experience porting BIOSs to new platforms
Experience performing system bring-ups
Expert at C language; knowledge of assembly
Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU/APU architectures and associated compile tools
Must have strong system debugging skills
Able to read and interpret system schematics
Strong communication skills
Education:
Bachelors, Masters and/or PhD with multiple years experience with BIOS, firmware, or system software development
Location:
Austin, TX (preferred), with possible exceptions
