About the Team


The mobile app creatives are a team of multidisciplinary product designers and UX copywriters. We support two mobile apps under the AT&T umbrella and are looking to round out our interaction and UI/visual design skill sets. We are part of a larger product design organization and collaborate to solve complex business problems from a user-centric perspective.


About the Job


As a Visual Design Lead, you'll be a key member of a dynamic product design team supporting native app initiatives. We are looking for a designer experienced in product design with a strong visual design background. You will assist the design director in setting the direction for the native apps unique look and feel without compromising usability or brand alignment. In this player/coach role you will work closely with peer UX & CX leads, guide product designers and collaborate with cross-functional project teams to launch well designed, user-centered features that meet business goals.


We are looking to fill one full-time position, preferably in one of our hub cities (Atlanta, New York, or Dallas; Seattle or Los Angeles are also options). This role is primarily remote but may require occasional onsite attendance for collaboration and leadership meet-ups.


Responsibilities and Day-to-Day View


Assist design director in improving the visual aesthetic of the apps. Drive solution exploration. Determine when to follow the norm and when the experience needs to evolve to meet customers needs.


Assist design director in maintaining the evolving design strategy and evangelizing established design principles.


Review and evaluate product design (visual & UI) from concept to delivery, ensuring compliance with brand, digital design standards and best practices. Provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and visual design.


Partner with UX & CX leads to drive end-to-end design execution. Advocate for feature prioritization based on a deep understanding of potential customer and business impact.


Understand and grow our app design system to deliver a consistent and rich app experience.


Function as a bridge across disciplines: product, engineering, business, and other design teams and help drive cross discipline & cross team collaboration.


Assist in contributing design initiatives to the product roadmap.


Create design concepts, and produce sketches, wires, high fidelity mockups, and prototypes; (user flows, architecture, customer journeys a plus).


Represent the apps unique visual design perspective, as a subset of digital design, in cross team projects or with outsourced designers/teams.


Assist in guiding designers to execute using the design process. Contribute to improving our internal process.


Drive innovation through ideation sessions, design workshops.


Partner with researchers to gain insights and improve designs, and bring a level of confidence to design deliverables.


Contribute to AT&Ts developing design culture.


Lead, mentor and partner with overseas team members.


Help to foster a fun, collaborative and supportive culture in which we are able to produce career-defining work.


Qualifications


EXPERIENCE


Art direction with an emphasis on visual design, UI design and design system development.


Experience delivering software applications/features from inception to shipping within a cross-functional team environment


Designing native apps, chat bots, commerce, support, IoT or complex platform-specific experiences.


Digital product design.


Mentoring designers.


Developing digital systems while aligning with brand.


Developing design principles and processes.


Developing design project timelines.


Developing design strategy.


Participating in design workshops/sprints; facilitation experience a plus.


Persona development a plus.


Applying user research to design solutions, running or analyzing test results a plus.


Creating usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale to millions of users.


QUALIFICATIONS


Digital portfolio required. Inspiring portfolio showcasing your design aesthetic. Portfolio should also demonstrate your user-centered product design experience and clue us in to your strategic thinking through case studies of recent work. Well qualified candidates will also have examples of mobile/native app experiences.


Degree or Certification in a graphic or visual design or equivalent in design work experience.


8+ years practicing visual or product design, with an emphasis on human-centered interaction.


2+ years leading/mentoring other designers on your team.


Soft Skills: Detail-oriented; a mentor; organized; takes initiative; problem-solver; curious; collaborative; effective communicator; agile.


Experience in mobile product design for different mobile devices and platforms (Android, iOS, React Native; web a plus.)


Deep understanding of UX best practices.


Skilled in prototyping.


Software proficiency: Figma, Mural/FigJam and Adobe Design Suite. Prototyping software a plus)


Familiarity with UX Research methods & data analysis & application, a plus


Illustration skills, a plus.


Must have a passion for design.
