TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time QA Manager to join our team in Round Rock, Texas.






Job Summary:



Transcore is seeking a talented QA Manager of server level system software to join our Software Development Team. The individual selected will participate directly with the software development teams as the QA Manager leading and tasking a small team of co-located Test Engineers. The QA Manager will be responsible for the direction to the testing team including the definition of best practice procedures/methodologies and selection of tools incorporated into this portion of the software development life cycle. The QA Manager will report to the Director of the Host System Software for TransCore and will participate with other team Managers in an agile team environment.



TransCore is focused on projects with an exciting level of risk, complexity and visibility. TransCores solutions are currently in use at tolling operations all over the country; some of which are a first of their kind. The software we are developing with the team in Round Rock, TX is the next generation of an existing suite of products used for tolling operations real-time monitoring, system auditing, and data, video and image processing using many of the following:



  • Programming Languages: C#, Angular 11, Angular 13, Angular Material, Ionic Framework 4.12/Angular 7.2, C++, JDK 11, JavaScript, TypeScript



  • Relational Databases: SQL Server Enterprise Version 2019, SQL Server Standard Version 2019, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Service Integration Services (SSIS), Tableau Server and Analytics



  • Technologies and Features: Microsoft .NET Framework, WPF/WCF, RabitMQ, WebAPI, Telerik Kendo, Serilog, Newtonsoft Json, Polly, RestSharp, Swashbuckle (Swagger), Microsoft Orleans, Azure DevOps



User interfaces are hosted through a common web portal using a shared security model for more flexibility of access, integration, and movement between tools. Middleware applications provide the workflow and communication between these interfaces and the underlying databases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Lead the development of automation testing framework and tools



  • Define comprehensive test strategies



  • Define testing tools and techniques



  • Define Test Plans and Test Cases for current and new products



  • Contribute to the overall success of the code base



  • Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes



  • Lead daily scrum meetings and update the daily task progress to the other Managers in the team



  • Build a team of QA professions to support the products QA needs



  • Task QA team resources based on product needs and priorities



  • Provide leadership and mentoring to team members; minimal administrative duties including timecards, leave, reviews



  • Participate in supporting production deployments, when necessary






Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field required. Masters degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field highly desirable.






Required Skills & Experience:



  • Experience in software testing including test plan, test case, and test result documentation



  • Experience in test automation



  • Experience in software development



  • Experience testing frontend, web-based, and backend applications



  • Attention to detail



  • Analysis, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws, and propose solutions



  • Understanding of relational database concepts



  • Good knowledge of industry standards/best practices surrounding all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle



  • Ability to work with diversified teams



  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills



  • Exhibits solid planning, scheduling, and organization skills



  • Functions well as part of a team; collaborates with others to achieve tasks and goals



  • Operates with a level of curiosity/inquisitive nature in seeking to uncover root cause of challenges, incidents, and potential solutions



  • Ability to understand how the business operates and apply that learning in supporting the company and its clients through quality technical product development






Desired Skills:



  • 10 years of related experience in QA or software development role



  • 5 years of related management experience



  • Familiar with development and testing of an Angular SPA



  • Experience using the Microsoft Technology Frameworks (.NET, WPF/WCF)



  • Experience with databases using Microsoft SQL Server



  • Experience with both web and application development
