Manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates the clinical and administrative activities and staff of the speech and hearing Center. Provides clinical services to children and adults with speech and swallowing disorders. Trains staff speech-language pathologists for modified barium swallow and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluations of swallowing studies. Supervises graduate students, candidates and per diem speech-language pathologists.

Job Responsibility

  • \r

  • Provides leadership to Speech Pathology team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.

  • \r

  • Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.

  • \r

  • Provides diagnostic evaluations, develops and conducts treatment programs for children and/or adults, in-patient and out-patient, with disorders of speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing and/or cognition.

  • \r

  • Maintains related records including, but not limited to evaluation reports, daily and monthly notes, progress notes, discharge summaries and other related correspondence.

  • \r

  • Develops, recommends and implements approved policies and procedures for existing and future clinical services.

  • \r

  • Supervises graduate student and candidates.

  • \r

  • Conducts in-service training for nurses and other related professionals.

  • \r

  • Plans and participates in marketing activities; coordinates professional conferences on site.

  • \r

  • Completes annual performance evaluations for per diem speech-language pathologists.

  • \r

Job Qualification

\r

  • \r

  • Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • \r

  • Current License to practice as a Speech Pathologist in New York State, and Current Clinical Competence - SPL (ASHA) Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

  • \r

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.
