The Team

Our highly respected pan EMEA team of Supply Chain professionals assist our clients to identify and deliver value creation opportunities and leading accelerated delivery to the bottom line across the value chain including Manufacturing Operations, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Logistics & Distribution, Integrated Demand & Supply Planning. The team brings unrivalled experience from both industry leadership roles and professional services advisory roles and works together with sector experts in related A&M expert practices as one team for our clients.

The Role

With continued growth, we are looking for a Managing Director (equivalent to Partner level) with deep subject matter expertise in Logistics, Distribution and Warehousing . As an MD you will be responsible for:

  • Executing the vision and direction for the continuing growth of Logistics, Distribution and Warehousing in Europe.

  • Building a robust yet flexible plan to generate deal flow and sustained repeat business, externally and internally.

  • Developing and executing a specific strategy focused on target clients and distinctive go-to-market propositions.

  • Assimilating and leveraging existing capability at A&M, both within the Corporate and Private Equity teams.

  • Attracting and hiring experienced professionals to drive growth in key European geographies.

  • On the ground leadership to help clients address tough business issues requiring business transformation and operational restructuring (company-wide transformation, post-merger integration, carve-out, Rapid Results / 100-day improvement plan, quantified EBITDA / cash improvements, comprehensive bottom-up assessment and, interim leadership).

  • Coordinating across the broader A&M in Europe and globally in terms of Key Account Management for Corporate clients.

  • Continuing to build the profile and reputation of the Firm as a world-class strategic transformation advisor to leading businesses.

The Requirements

You must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Be a high-energy and successful leader in a professional services firm or have significant industry experience. Preferably, operational experience as executive in a significant Supply Chain and Logistics function.

  • Proven track record in the areas of Supply Chain, Logistics, Distribution and Warehousing .

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in business transformation including strategy, operational restructuring, finance transformation and performance improvement.

  • Proven ability in growing a successful professional services practice group within a major advisory firm. Advisory experience will likely be from a top tier strategy firm, a specialist restructuring firm or management consultancy. Alternatively, you may have held a COO or similar senior SC line management role within a business of significant size, scale and complexity or 3PL environment.

  • A significant and well-developed network across major European geographies in distribution and logistics.

  • A demonstrable track record in converting business contacts and leads into sustainable, profitable revenue streams.

  • A breadth of sector experience especially in such areas as Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals and Food Production.

  • Deep functional expertise in key areas including distribution and logistics network optimization, transportation and warehouse sourcing, warehouse design and/or management, and 3PL operating experience. Experience of SC strategy and transformation, S&OP, network optimisation, cost to service are highly desirable.

  • Proven evidence of delivering state of the art solutions to ever evolving and often unpredictable business issues in the sector including developing transformation plans to drive proposed changes in transportation, freight optimization, warehousing & distribution, and develop implementation plan and estimated range and timing of benefits (OPEX / inventory / service delivery)

  • Clear determination to deliver the latest thinking in sector solutions within a highly competitive advisory marketplace.

Soft Skills

  • Hands-on and non-hierarchical operator who is equally effective in managing up and down and relates well at all levels and cultures.

  • Strong facilitation skills, forging consensus around credible, executable solutions.

  • Passionate about affecting real change.

  • Reads people accurately; can diagnose strengths, weaknesses, and potential; knows what skills are required to fill a job or role; hires the best.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, confident and impactful presenter.

  • Objective, fact-based approach to problem solving.

  • Driven by values and integrity, talks straight, builds confidence and leads by example.

  • The ability to manage a multiple stakeholder environment within a privately-owned business.

  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and uncertain environment.

  • Experience of living and working in Europe, specifically the UK, is essential.
