Job Summary
Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment and haul trucks utilized in the mining industry. Responsible for completion of pre-operational inspections, safety interactions and productive/efficient skilled operations of assigned equipment.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
Operation of any combination of the following: Haul Trucks (190 or larger), Scrapers (627 or larger), Dozers (D9 or larger), Rubber Tire Dozers (824 or larger), Loaders (988 or larger), Blades (14G or larger), Drills (single pass, DMM2, DMM3 or PV275), Shovels and Draglines.
Conduct safety observations and complete safety interactions monthly.
Other duties as assigned by the company.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum six months experience in operation of mining equipment.
Ability to solve problems that may arise in pit conditions.
Ability to identify defects in equipment.
Knowledge of mine production.
Excellent oral communication skills.
Ability to listen and follow direction.
Ability to handle on-board computer systems.
Ability to operate equipment in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
Ability to work overtime as required by the Company.
Ability to train others in equipment operation.

Physical Requirements
SURFACE ENVIRONMENT
Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
