Job Summary
Safely perform maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment (heavy and light duty) including Haul Trucks, Dozers, Loaders, Blades, Scrapers, Rubber Tire Dozers, etc. that are utilized in the mining industry. This includes maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of mining and mining support equipment
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
Operate and maintain fuel/lube truck.
Demonstrate safe and correct use of hand tools, forklift, tire machine and maintenance, hoists and jacking systems.
Demonstrate safe and correct use of steam cleaner and pressure washer.
Equipment inspection: fuel/air/oil leaks; loose or missing bolts; defective components and irregular noises.
Perform all necessary servicing on assigned equipment.
Remove and replace faulty grease zerks, lines and hydraulic hoses.
Remove and replace wiper blades, light bulbs and miscellaneous minor components.
Conduct safety observations and complete safety interactions monthly.
Other duties as assigned by the Company.
MINIMUM and PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
One-year heavy equipment maintenance experience or completion of a two-year associate degree in diesel or welding technology
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
Ability to perform maintenance repairs, troubleshooting and servicing on large mining equipment.
Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and part books.
Ability to read and use low voltage (24V) electrical, air and hydraulic schematics in performing repairs on mining equipment.
Ability to rebuild air valves and perform adjustments on air system governors.
Ability to operate equipment in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
Ability to work overtime as required by the Company.
Ability to train others.
Physical Requirements
Physical Requirements - Surface Environment:
Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination
Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
