Job Summary

This job is to carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance to fixed and mobile plant in both underground and open cut environments.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values

  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System

  • Knowledge of general computer applications including MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and other general use of computer programs

  • Use of electronic troubleshooting equipment including mulit-meter, Ethernet cable tester, and antenna cable tester

  • Able to test and troubleshoot LAN's and WiFi networks and hardware

  • Operation of light duty vehicles (with trailers) in diverse weather conditions

  • Operation of man lifts and/or bucket trucks

  • Willing to sufficiently document work completed and/or needed

  • Ability to work in remote locations, self-motivated and ability to prioritize work

  • Schedule and coordinate work with operations to minimize impacts to production

  • Maintain all equipment and tools in a safe manner

  • Other duties as assigned by the Company

JOB DUTIES

  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing of mine radio system, Sirius XM radios, RAJANT network nodes, MineStar Edge and MineStar Terrain, including mobile repeaters, cameras, radios, antennas, co-ax, power supplies, screens, etc.

  • Communications and system power cabling

  • Power supplies, solar panels, and battery backup systems

  • Electric gates and sirens

  • Electrical/electronic schematics

  • Analysis and application of repeater radio strength for location of mobile radio and communication repeater devices

  • Troubleshooting, programming, and testing of electronic equipment and systems

  • Review and complete reports and work orders including ordering and returning parts

  • PTX

  • Caterpillar MineStar Edge System

  • Caterpillar Terrain System

  • Sirius Radios

  • Installing equipment in mine size equipment (haul trucks, rubber tire dozers, track dozers, blades, scrapers, shovels and drills)

  • Connecting and tying into Electrical Systems (12 and 24 volt)

  • Mobile repeater and towers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Maintenance background with experience in electronics, electrical, and mechanical systems preferred

  • Experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining Minestar Edge systems

  • Knowledge of computer programs including Rajant BC Commander Modules, Telnet and Ping utilities, Minestar Edge and CAT Terrain.

  • MSHA Carded electrician with Mine Experience preferred

  • Familiarity with 802.11b radio networks preferred.

Physical Requirements

SURFACE ENVIRONMENT

  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift

  • Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles

  • Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders

  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA

  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination

  • Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift

  • Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area

  • Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
