Our team focus on big ticket company side financial and operational restructuring assignments in addition to Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) /CEO/ CFO appointments and, within the last few years, we have delivered on some of Europe's largest restructuring cases such as Abengoa, Heijmans, Bouwfonds, Intertoys, Toys R Us, Nyrstar, Seadrill, Macintosh, and Continental Foods in addition to working for leading Private Equity companies.
A&M advise on every aspect of the restructuring process - from the business strategy to cash conservation/liquidity management, to business plan development and implementation. We are seeking a Private Equity CFO with experience of working with distressed businesses and who is now interested in developing a career in Turnaround and Restructuring advisory as a Senior Director.
You will have the opportunity to work across all phases and aspects of operational restructuring and turnaround initiatives. You will stabilise core operations by formulating and managing turnaround plans and negotiating with senior management and other key stakeholders. Working day-to-day alongside our clients, you will develop an in-depth understanding of their processes, financial position and key operational performance drivers. This understanding is needed in order to create and implement successful restructuring and turnaround initiatives.

Profit Improvement (Sales Improvement and Cost Reduction)
The successful candidate will be adept at building a 13-week cash flow forecast and will have a firm understanding of liquidity management. A working knowledge of corporate finance in restructurings and insolvency regimes is preferable as is an understanding of P&L and asset efficiency (working capital) performance improvement processes.
The successful candidate will have;
Proven experience as a CFO in a Private Equity owned business of significant size, scale and complexity
Experience in Turnaround Management, including business plan development, financial projections development and review, designing and implementing cash conservation guidelines and controls
Ability to conduct an initial rapid diagnostic into the company's immediate and future cash needs, product profitability, cost base, major operational issues, market position and options for restructuring
Reviewing performance figures and analysing data to develop fact-based analysis to examine the root cause of problems
Developing and implementing performance improvement solutions to solve under-performance on both cost and revenue lines
Robust understanding of accounting and business plan modelling
Additional desirable capabilities include;
Proven experience in operational restructuring including success in a CRO role
Demonstrate recent, relevant leadership experience in a bankruptcy or turnaround situation
Collaborating with company management on interim and crisis management assignments - often undertaking the FD/CFO roles. These roles will include designing contingency plans and implementing and managing short-term cash flow
Connections with and exposure to private equity (large and mid-cap), associated with restructuring and turnaround
Applicants must have;
Training at a Big 4 firm ideally with experience within the Restructuring or Deals team
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Fluency in Dutch is ideal (other European languages are highly desirable)
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Objective, fact-based approach to problem solving
A successful Restructuring Senior Director will be experienced in addressing businesses critical issues at speed and will reflect the operational distinctiveness that is A&M; a business savvy, outcome focused business entrepreneur who is addicted to making an impact, determined to make a difference and not afraid to challenge the status-quo.
In addition, the successful candidate will also possess excellent negotiating skills, ideally gained in an operational restructuring environment, whether in the context of negotiating with banks, closure of an entity/divestment of assets, commercial / supplier agreements, or dealing with management teams or trade unions. The ability to engage with ambitious deadlines under possible ambiguity is key, whilst mobilising one's self and the team towards productive outcomes.
Ideally, a Senior Director will be able to successfully identify client needs and win client trust. Ultimately, the successful appointee will be recognised by the client as the lead for value contributed on engagements and therefore build his/her own credible network of contacts and referral sources with clients, professionals and institutions.
