THE ROLE: Physical Design Engineer
The position will involve working with a very experienced physical design team of AMD graphics core and is responsible for delivering the physical design of blocks to meet challenging goals for frequency, power and other design requirements for AMD next generation graphics processors in a fast-paced environment on cutting edge technology.
THE PERSON:
Physical design Engineer with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. The candidates should have excellent communication skills, very good team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing innovative physical design place & route methodology and flow solutions to meet current and future digital design challenges.
Working closely with EDA vendors to evaluate their capabilities and drive future improvements.
Tuning the design flows to achieve optimal power, performance, area and turnaround time on a range of designs.
Developing newflow featuresaround newEDA toolsand tool capabilities.
Improving and maintaining theflow infrastructure and automation.
Providing technical leadership, mentoring andsupport in a global multi-cultural work environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
5-8 Yrs experience in Physical Design execution or developing and supporting PD methodology andflows for Synthesisto GDS design of multi-gigahertz digital designs.
Experience with advanced process technology nodes, preferably5nmor more recent.
Extensive experience in developing and customizing high performance design flows using industry-standard EDA tools for logic and physical synthesis fromCadence, Synopsys,or a similar vendor.
Experience with driving EDA vendors to make tool improvements or new functions to meet advanced or unique design requirements.
Working knowledge of static timing analysis, Synthesis, PnR, CTSand PPA optimization methodologies is strongly preferred.
GoodUNIXandscripting programming skills(Perl, Python, and/or TCL). Experience withsoftware build automation and version control software(e.g., Perforce, Git) is a plus.
ACAMDEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
