Software Engineering Lead


The ICG Technology Strategy team is responsible for laying out the technology strategy for ICG this includes defining architectural patterns that are employed across ICG businesses, engineering best in class platforms and deployable assets, laying out the architectural best practices and guidance for engineering teams.


This is a new, multi-disciplined group that is taking shape and will include product managers, technology SMEs, full stack senior engineers, security engineers, cloud engineers and architects. This team is part of the Engineering and Architecture Practice (EAP) in Citi and will work closely with engineering and business experts across Citi.


**The role**


Citi is seeking an experienced senior full stack engineer to join the ICG Technology Strategy group. Youll be responsible for engineering core, global scale, technology assets and platforms that are secure by design, employ a zero-trust model and are built with best-in-class security controls. These stacks will be developed using modern, cloud native principles and will employ leading technologies and open-source technologies. You will also be responsible for leading a software engineering team and will be a **hands-on role model** frontrunning the execution of transformative software at Citi.


You will be at the forefront of shaping and building the strategic deployable blueprints and technology solutions that we are engineering for internal technologists. We are looking for a software engineer with over 15 years of experience, in building and rolling out an ecosystem of digital solutions from concept to delivery, & in successfully leading teams to deliver software products.


Youll be working with a varied technology stack, including open source and propriety tooling and platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes and its ecosystem and more. Youll also build the automation for self-service security controls for all our blueprints (deployable assets), proactively identifying opportunities to improve along the way.


The ideal candidate is a professional with deep **hands-on** experience in engineering transformative solutions using Kubernetes, open-source tech, deep experience in language stacks such as Golang, Nodejs and Java. We expect candidates who apply to this role to be well versed public clouds such as AWS and Google Cloud, and to have delivered hybrid solutions using on-prem enterprise and public cloud technologies. You should be comfortable working at the edge of technology, have a deep love for software engineering and are driven by a strong desire to become the best engineer you can be.


**Responsibilities**


+ Engineer best in class full stack blueprints for public cloud & hybrid deployments that will serve as repeatable patterns across Citi.

+ Own building full stack application stacks for blueprints with a specific focus on delivering public cloud end to end solutions that are secure, scalable, API first and span multiple public clouds and private data centres

+ Lead the engineering and delivery of software platforms and products for Technology Strategy Group at Citi


+ Be the liaison that drives adoption of the outlined technology strategy in all lines of businesses for Citi

+ Develop global scale backend, using microservices or distributed systems (we typically have services in Node, Java and Golang)


**Qualifications**


+ Deep proficiency in using language stacks such as Golang, Nodejs, Java and others

+ Candidate should have extensive public cloud experience and should have delivered hybrid architectures spanning private and public cloud/s

+ A proven track record of leading engineering teams as a hands-on leader and delivering software products

+ Deep proficiency in Kubernetes and containerisation **is a must have**

+ Familiarity with open-source toolchains, package managers such as Helm, Kustomize, Tekton & others is a plus

+ Good **applied** understanding of DevSecOps


+ Familiarity with open source and proprietary tech including Kafka, Hashicorp Vault, Terraform, Postgres, MongoDB, Prometheus and other such is expected

+ Ability to evangelise the technology strategy vision and solutions developed thereof within a large matrixed organisation

+ Strong communication skills with ability to drive ideation and manage conflicts

+ Ability to discuss complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences that include peers, product owners, and other stakeholders
