The Team
A&M's Direct Procurement specialists not only advise but also negotiate directly with suppliers to strip out significant costs. These unique Procurement services are in high demand across Europe delivering the quickest results and giving the best returns for our clients. Working closely with the senior leadership, the successful appointee will be responsible for supporting and contributing to the build out of the profile and reputation of the Firm, specifically in the key Procurement function.
The Opportunity
At Director level you will be responsible for managing and delivering projects, helping to win new business, and developing more junior members of the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, supply market scanning, bidding, negotiating, awarding and service implementation with direct communications to vendors and in-house stakeholders. The focus will be on identifying, communicating and implementing strategic sourcing opportunities, ensuring that key strategic suppliers/partners are well managed and best practices are leveraged. You may have the opportunity to fill interim management roles in Procurement such as CPO, Head of Direct Material Procurement, etc.
The Qualifications

You will be a high-energy individual with excellent financial skills and a track record of success.
Ideally, you will have a demonstrable deep knowledge of procuring effectively, a willingness to challenge the status quo, a broad and varied blend of operational and commercial skills, an entrepreneurial approach and some developed networks. You will bring a mix of advisory experience, either from a top tier strategy firm or leading specialist Procurement consultancy but must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of several direct product categories gained through industry experience and direct negotiation with a range of suppliers.
Candidates will have a tight grasp on Procurement trends and challenges in areas such as:
Challenging current technology, specifications and ways of working
Managing complex Procurement programmes
Demonstrated skills in the transformation of the Procurement function
Experience in developing a Procurement operating model incl. processes (strategic and operational), organisation, skills, etc.
Deep experience in the category characteristics, cost drivers and savings levers in a range of key direct and indirect categories
Experience in exploring wider whole life cost and value engineering opportunities through a broad understanding of the wider procurement context
Demonstrable track record in procurement implementation and benefits capture
Change management, post-merger integration, value creation
Experience in Influencing, engaging and advising a cross section of operational and executive stakeholders from across the business
Strong fact-based negotiation experience: building strategy, engaging stakeholders and executing the negotiation
Data analysis (turning raw data into business insights and intelligence)
Basic knowledge of the opportunities for digitisation in Procurement (Procurement Suites, Application of RPA, etc.)
We would expect the successful candidate to bring:
8 + years' experience, with the above outlined expertise in the UK and/or Europe
Extensive industry expertise in either Industrial, Automotive, Retail, Consumer Goods, or Healthcare & Life Sciences
Fluency in English plus German, French, Dutch and/or Spanish is essential
Experience and consequently a good network across the procurement industry
C lear determination to deliver the latest thinking in procurement solutions within a highly competitive advisory marketplace
Robust financial experience and analytical rigor
A Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited university (Procurement specific related certifications are of interest)
