Responsibilities:
The QA Engineer and Quality Coach role is a fusion of a testing automation expert and a coach to nurture software quality assurance culture and to boost testing efforts and productivity on flagship products. This position demands an experienced professional with a deep hand-on knowledge of manual and automated testing methodologies, frameworks and tools coupled with a broad yet direct experience in evaluating and building test strategies, frameworks, and tooling. Our ideal candidate also exhibits passion for coaching, possesses a can-do attitude and approaches their work with enthusiasm and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in fields of work, to learn quickly and to stay ahead in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties:
Provide guidance and facilitate automated testing strategies and tooling across teams.
Develop new test tools/scripts, and extend existing test frameworks to improve testing coverage, automated regression test pass, and feature testing.
Participate in product requirement, design, and architectural meetings to contribute to QA test design and automation implementation.
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers and support engineers to correctly identify and resolve issues.
Mentor/Train quality assurance resources for automation.
Improve the quality of QA output via training, coaching and process improvements.
Execute manual and automation tests for web applications and backend jobs (including IO data loads).
Perform functional and regression testing for complex features.
Create and maintain documentation including test plans/cases/scripts, tooling and strategies.
Organize QA for projects, within JIRA and collaborate with other QA engineers as needed.
Telework or work from assigned office as may be required based upon business needs in adherence with Company policies and requirements. 
Other duties and assignments as applicable to support business needs.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in testing applications based on HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, SQL, and MSMQ.
Proficient in C#, Javascript and SQL.
Experience with industry-leading test automation and scripting tools such as Selenium, BDD (Specflow.NET preferred), NUnit, Jasmine, Jest, Cypress, TestCafe, Powershell or other scripting language.
Ability and experience with building CI/CD pipelines using TeamCity, Jenkins etc.
Familiarity with Source Code Versioning tools (SVN, GIT or comparable), Jira, Confluence.
Proven track record of building automation tests for large and complex systems, integrating QA with CI/CD, building, or extending CI/CD pipelines and reducing QA cycle time.
Knowledge of software testing methodologies, relational databases, test frameworks, and Agile processes.
Willingness to engage in both manual and automated testing.
Passionate about troubleshooting failures to identify the root cause.
Strong attention to detail, planning, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated success training and mentoring QA resources.
Flexible, adaptable, and able to autonomously manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

Completion of Teleworker Agreement upon hire, and adherence to the Agreement (and related policies and procedures) including, but not limited to: able to navigate computer and phone systems as a user to work remote independently using on-line resources, must have high-speed internet connectivity, appropriate workspace able to be compliant with HIPAA, safety & ergonomics, confidentiality, and dedicated work focus without distractions during work hours.


Physical Requirements:
*NOTE: Must be able to meet requirements for and perform work assignments in accordance with Company policies and expectations on a home remote basis (and must meet Performant remote-worker requirements) Basic office equipment required to perform remote work is provided by the company.
Job is performed in an standard busy office environment with moderate noise level (or may be home-office setting subject to Company approval and Teleworker Agreement), sits at a desk during scheduled shift, uses office phone or headset provided by the Company for calls, making outbound calls and answering inbound return calls using an office phone system; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed). 
Sit/stand 8 or more hours per day; has the option to stand as needed while on calls; reach as needed to use office equipment.
Consistently viewing a computer screen and types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard to update accounts.
Consistently communicates on the phone as required primarily within the department and company and may include client contacts or other third-party depending on assignment with account holders, may dial manually when need or use dialer system; headset is also provided.
Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.
 

 


Education and Experience:
BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
6+ years of direct software testing experience.
5+ hands-on experience on evaluating and building test frameworks, executing test strategies (automated and manual) and build automated testing pipelines.

 


Other Requirements:
Must submit to and pass pre-hire background check, as well as additional checks throughout employment.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check; must not have any felony convictions or specific misdemeanors, nor on state/federal debarment or exclusion lists.
Must submit to and pass drug screen pre-employment (and throughout employment).
Performant is a government contractor. Certain client assignments for this position requires submission to and successful outcome of additional background and/or clearances throughout employment with the Company.
