Position description
Seeking applicants for a post-doctoral Research Fellow within the laboratory of Dr. Shruthi Naik in the Department of Molecular Medicine focused on the development and clinical translation of novel cancer immunotherapies. We collaborate extensively with veterinary hospitals to implement clinical trials to evaluate new treatment approaches in naturally occurring canine cancer including canine osteosarcoma and lymphoma. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with clinical teams and industry partners and play a key role in advancing new technologies to impact patient care.
This is a team-based position to provide research and technical support to current and new research projects focused on testing new oncolytic virus therapies and combination therapy approaches. This position will have access to core facilities to use cutting edge technologies to (i) test new immunotherapy approaches in clinically relevant mouse models of cancer; (ii) participate in the implementation of clinical trials; and (iii) perform correlative studies to visualize the impact of cancer immunotherapy in naturally occurring cancer to identify potential biomarkers of response. The successful candidate will need to be highly collaborative team member who can learn on the job, communicate effectively, and operate independently.
Responsibilities:
Technical support for ongoing laboratory research experiments (40%)
Maintaining sterile tissue cell culture in a BSL-2 environment and performing in vitro experiments
Coordinating with veterinary technicians to execute studies in murine tumor models
Immune assays including flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOTs
Collaborating and maintaining communications with clinical teams (30%)
Ensuring all clinical samples are received and cataloged
Execution of correlative studies on clinical specimens
Data analysis, report generation, and support in writing manuscripts and grants (30%)
Use of various research software (ImageJ, Flowjo, Graphpad Prism, Excel)
Developing SOPs and maintaining IACUC protocols
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Proof of doctoral degree (copy of diploma or final transcript with English translation, if applicable) or a letter from your university's Registrar office indicating you have fulfilled all doctoral program requirements and are eligible to graduate.

Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
