Job Description:
GDIT IS seeking candidates to support the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Under the I2TS 3 task order, INSCOM ensures reliable, uninterrupted availability of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) including: networks, hardware, software, engineering, and specialized tools at the point of customer need to support INSCOM's mission. INSCOM and its MSCs provide the enabling layer to connect the Army and its tactical formations to defense and national intelligence agencies via tactical networks. The ability to provide mission critical intelligence is dependent on the successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide system administration support for Linux/Solaris operating systems including installing software, applying patches, managing file systems, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts from monitoring tools.
Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system, servers, hardware, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on servers, including system failure analysis and recovery, insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.
In-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision.
Responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems; review daily logs and ensure successful completion.
Perform incremental and full cold backups/patching.
Setup backups for Linux and Oracle databases.
Responsible for DoD Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage and network uptime for the Linux Servers.
Provide general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers and coordinate with data center personnel to execute. Document and generate business processes for day-to-day and emergency support procedures.
Install, test and verify Oracle Linux Security patches; coordinating, documenting requirements and timelines, and working closely with Oracle database administrators.
Perform systems security administration functions, including creation and maintenance of customer profiles and accounts.
Responsible for creating and/or maintaining standard operating procedures for the Linux documentation library.
Implement LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) web server configuration, which includes installation of all standard plugins, configuration, and SSL
Experience in handling NFS, CIFS, and SMB permissions
Desired Skills / Experience:
Experience managing legacy Linux servers and cloud resources
Highly versed in Linux administration and best practices
Familiar with enterprise network architectures
Experience with automated configuration management (Puppet, Chef, etc.)
Familiar in programming/scripting skills for automation - Bash, Ruby, Python, Perl, etc.
General understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.)
General understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, FTP, NFS, etc.)
Certification(s):
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract
Required Security Environment Certification:CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
Computing Environment certification: Red Hat Certified System Admin (RHCSA) or equivalent
Security Clearance:
TS/SCI required
Additional:
Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
Travel may be required in support of customer's mission requirements.
High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience, or Associate's Degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 4 years of experience
