UNIX/LINUX System Engineer – Senior

Experience: Must have a minimum of 8 years of experience administrating and managing servers and systems, specializing in UNIX/LINUX operating systems.  Must possess a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification or equivalent. 

 

Duties:  Responsible for the day-to-day management of the UNIX/LINUX server infrastructure.  Provides leadership to the UNIX/LINUX Server team, overseeing activities administering, designing, and implementing RedHat Linux server based solutions.  Responsible for incident management as it relates to the UNIX/LINUX server infrastructure.  Performs advanced troubleshooting of complex system issues.  Works primarily in a virtualized environment.

 

 

High Priority qualifications, skills, experience, certifications

  • Must have a strong skills in writing Ansible playbooks to automate routine LINUX tasks

  • Must have strong skills with RedHat LINUX administration

  • Must have a good understanding of DISA STIG’s and creating golden images

  • Basic understanding of LDAP / Kerberos based authentication concepts
     

Role and Responsibilities

Summary:

  • Will function as a senior team member on the LINUX team. 

  • Will be responsible for creating & hardening the LINUX golden image in Vsphere, AWS, and Azure. 

  • Will integrate activities into Ansible to automate tasks 

  • Will be working with LINUX systems using AD authentication for login management, so some windows AD skills are beneficial. 

 

Duties: 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the LINUX server infrastructure. 

  • Provides support to the LINUX Tower team lead, overseeing activities administering, designing, and implementing RedHat Linux server based solutions. 

  • Responsible for incident management as it relates to the LINUX server infrastructure. 

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting of complex system issues. 

  • Works primarily in a virtualized environment.  

  • Works alongside other team members to complete Operational tasks as directed by Federal leadership.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Experience: Must have a minimum of 8 years of experience administrating and managing servers and systems, specializing in UNIX/LINUX operating systems.  Must possess a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification or equivalent. 

    


Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
