Role and Responsibilities
Summary:
This role will report directly to the Director of Income Tax, will provide managerial support to both the Director of Tax Controversy/Transfer Pricing and the Head of Tax. The Senior Manager will oversee and manage our federal and state co-sourced income tax compliance engagements, be responsible for review of the monthly and quarterly US income tax provisions, support drafting and providing tax and financial workpaper support to respond to IRS, state and local information document requests related to income tax audits. The role will participate with senior tax management and external tax advisors with tax planning, transactions and special projects. In addition, the Senior Tax Manager will also supervise and direct tax staff as needed and will provide the level of leadership required to develop and guide his/her direct reports.
Essential Job Functions:
Thorough knowledge of federal and state income tax laws; keep current with proposedlegislation. Draft technical memorandums to support tax return positions. Ability to evaluate, identify and model the impact related to current or proposed US legislative changes.
Primarily responsible for SEA and managed subsidiaries quarterly Financial Tax Provision Reporting (IAS 12) to SEC and external auditors to support the audited financial statements and managing both federal and state income tax compliance reporting. Assist Director of Tax Controversy/Transfer Pricing with IFRIC 23 assessment, journal entries and documentation.
Manage and develop staff and mentor them to be future leaders.
Manage and work with external advisors with complex tax matters and special projects (e.g., R&D study, tax planning, refund look back reviews).
Provide audit support to the Director of Tax Controversy/Transfer Pricing; compile and provide supportable tax documentation to support tax return tax positions as requested by the taxing authorities through the information document request process.
Lead and support continuous process improvement efforts, including automation and technology initiatives to transform existing tax functions in anticipation of the changing tax reporting and compliance landscape.
Analyze provision-to-return adjustments and explain significant variances. Determine proper tax treatment of tax positions and transactions pertaining to taxable income reported on the Federal and State tax returns.
Support and approve Federal and State quarterly estimates and extensions.
Review the current income tax payable roll-forward schedules and reconcile to the tax accounts in the general ledger. Confirm deferred tax asset and liabilities by performing balance sheet testing.
Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures
Establish and maintain internal relationships with affiliated company personal and external tax/auditor professionals.
Contribute to the overall success of the team by keeping team members informed of work status; proactively evaluating tax saving and effective tax rate reduction opportunities; challenging traditional procedures used in the past; and attempting to find new approaches.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor or Higher degree in business or accounting; CPA is a plus
10+ Years of income tax compliance and provision experience
Advanced tax provision knowledge
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Must supervise, train and mentor the Tax Manager, Tax Staff and consultants with their tax compliance and tax reporting responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Software:
Experience with tax research databases such as Checkpoint, BNA and CCH

Experience with SAP (ECC or S4 Hana)
Experience with Tableau and Alteryx, a plus
Experience with OneSource Income Tax Compliance, Tax Provision and DataFlow
Skill in:
Expertise in OneSource software or comparable

Strong Analytical Skills
Ability to identify and resolve technical matters
Direct manager of staff
Experience with corporate taxation and consolidations
Prior experience preparing tax provisions
Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Reading, analyzing, interpreting and applying financial and tax manuals, accounting journals, financial reports, legal documents, and federal, state and local tax related laws, codes and regulations
Demonstrate an understanding of moderately complex tax issues. Keep informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to the company and subsidiaries circumstances
Building on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to complex situations
Demonstrating professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of work products
