Assembly Media Inc., a subsidiary of Daniel J. Edelman Holdings, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a talented Earned Media Strategist to join the team at the Senior Account Supervisor (SAS) level. You'd be dedicated to the Microsoft business 100%, focused primarily on telling the Xbox story.

In this role, you must be a storyteller, a creative thinker and leader who has a proven track record in earned media and publicity. You should be an avid consumer of the media in all its forms. You should have a constant sense of what's trending across news verticals, have your finger on the culturally relevant conversations among consumers, and know what stories will elevate the clients' brand in today's media landscape. You'll work in collaboration with account teams-and other specialists, including creative, planning, analytics, digital, and influencer- on all forms of earned media strategy and executionfor our clients. You'll bring an exceptional understanding of PR strategies and the role earned media and top stories play within it. You should have anexisting network of media contacts across print, digital, emerging media, and broadcastfrom top-tier outlets in respective industries. You're a master at crafting storylines and themes reporters will view as newsworthy and have an ability to create integrated, visual earned media strategies that will resonate across platforms and diverse media channels. You're comfortable working with spokespeople and preparing them for interviews.

The ideal candidate is an experienced media relations professional with a passion for storytelling who understands what it takes to break through in a constantly evolving news cycle. They are creative and collaborative, an avid consumer of the media, follow the latest trends and can adapt in real time. Candidates should have anexisting network of media contacts, the ability to craft stories reporters will view as newsworthy, and an ability to create integrated earned media strategies that will resonate across platforms and diverse media channels. The ideal candidate can earn client confidence and be a trusted counselor partner. Ideal applicants have experience, and confidence, in counseling clients and executives on effective earned media strategies. They can adapt quickly and partner with colleagues in other departments (account teams, creative, influencer, etc.) to develop and execute multichannel media strategies.

The position also requires the ability to effectively project manage,delegate,and oversee a large volume of short-term and longer-term/complex assignments. All candidates should have experience coaching junior team members and will likely manage direct report(s) and support their career development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in communications and public relations and/or related fields including marketing, advertising, management consulting, journalism, media, and publishing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university

  • Experience in an agency setting preferred

  • Experience working with press in an earned editorial capacity is a must

  • Experience with consumer technology and/or gaming brands and/or product communications strongly preferred

  • Experience in storytelling to B2C media on a wide range of topics across multichannel media platforms

  • Established relationships with reporters across a variety of verticals and media outlets with success securing impactful media - technology and/or gaming press relationships are a plus

  • Strong client counselor with proven ability to demonstrate the role earned media plays within their communications and marketing efforts, helping clients understand what reporters/media are looking for, and the ability to articulate the current media landscape and climate

  • Ability to research, interview, write and edit a range of media communications (press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, post-project recap reports)

  • Action-oriented with the ability to lead and manage multiple small or medium-sized projects simultaneously and independently

  • Strong writing, editing, strategic thinking and research skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capability of interacting with clients and partner agency team members professionally with an eye towards building and maintaining strong relationships

  • Ability to gather and synthesize key information to make decisions and develop recommendations for clients and wider project teams

  • Demonstrated ability to help develop communication programming and plans, implement integrated tactics and impart knowledge to junior account team members

  • Able to perform well under pressure, think ten steps ahead, be a team player and effectively motivate and manage teams

  • Ability to develop understanding of the clients' businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, media, vendors, partners, other businesses/organizations, etc.

  • Showcase a desire to learn, collaborate, maintain high energy and a strong work ethic
