Job Description

Manulife is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect for a role on our Cloud Platform Services team. This team is responsible for highly complex, long term, multi-national platforms and projects that span many divisions and business units. We provide leadership, direction, services to high priority and special projects. We extend our cloud enterprise continuum by evolving respective architectural artifacts and corresponding solutions. We explore, envision, develop, plan and deliver cloud based solutions enabling business requirements.
We collaborate with business and vendor, liaise between customer and cloud services partners, deliver engineered solutions and evolve second day business as usual services. We work with enterprise stakeholders from business, risk, compliance, legal, contract, procurement, IT, IS, IM, and others to comply with various requirements. Our Cloud services members are client centric, highly skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individuals who deliver leading solutions that exceed business expectations.
The Cloud Architect will work closely with our Businesses and Partners and enable azure cloud journey, gather requirements, analyze TCO and create a business case, make the Cloud dream become reality. This person must have expertise to assess the customer cloud maturity, review existing Azure cloud implementations, identify gaps and suggest improvements. The architect's contributions will create a unified strategy for Azure cloud transformation governance, automation, security, implementation and operations.

Responsibilities for this role include:

Responsible for design, development, and hands-on implementation of Azure cloud solutions

Experienced at producing multi-tier, high-availability infrastructure architectures in an Enterprise & cloud environment adhering to DR, Business Continuity and availability best practice
Experience with application and infrastructure management and monitoring tools
Assists with design of application architectures
Experience with executing quick technical feasibility and proposal development for moving identified workloads to Azure
Building and recommending a migration approach to lift and shift the workloads to Azure or architecting a greenfield development and/or production platform for new applications. Able to help shape transition and transformation strategies
Executing limited POCs, where necessary
Understands nature of the impact
Works across small to medium sized teams with common purpose setting guidelines and clarifying outcomes

Job Requirements for this role are as follows

6+ years of relevant Engineering and/or Consulting experience
3+ years of relevant Microsoft Azure design & delivery experience
Post-secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent demonstrate-able experience
Demonstrates all core skills, and good interpersonal skills for the role
Deep understanding of business strategy and ability to craft software/platform/infrastructure architecture plans to support business outcomes
Experience in cloud architectures, including web, application, and database components

Experience in all aspects of cloud capacity planning and optimization
Experience with Azure Resource Manager, Resource Groups, Virtual Networks, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, PowerShell DSC, Azure Automation, Azure Active Directory, and Azure Site Recovery
Experience with Azure Governance and Best Practices (Role Based Access Control, Networking Architectures, Cost Management controls, etc.)
Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure DevOps preferred
Strong understanding of multi-region environments and global connectivity requirements
Experience with migration readiness and planning tools (ex. Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery Planner)
Understanding of security/compliance requirements as it relates to Azure services and regions
