Best Buy is seeking a Senior Engineer of Data Quality where you will play a key role in shaping Best Buy's Data Development and Enablement Strategies. The leader in this role will develop people, form strong working partnerships with stakeholders, business subject area experts as well as other Digital and Technology leaders, plan and deliver on cloud migration and Data development goals, contribute to evolving use of data and decision intelligence led solutions for solving problems, and scale the impact of data through development of scalable, cloud native services. This role requires mature technical, business and communication skills to be able to collaborate with business and technology leaders to co-create and understand key enterprise outcomes in addition to being able to build and operate continuous deployment pipelines. This role requires cloud data engineering skills.

A Senior Engineer is responsible for:

• Leading the delivery of complex solutions.

• Their depth of knowledge aids them in anticipating technical issues at the product level and makes architectural and design decisions to avoid them.

• They demonstrate creativity and takes initiative in solving complex problems.

• Aware of the technology landscape, they plan delivery of coarse-grained business needs spanning multiple applications.

• This candidate sets a consistent example of agile development practices and coaches other engineers to work as a team with Product and UX.

Key Responsibilities

• Codes larger features from start to finish.

• Keeps up with industry trends and be an advocate for the standards.

• Creates and improves internal libraries and tools.

• Designs Features.

• Takes responsibility in ensuring team's high code quality.

• Teaches best practices and context to internal engineers.

• Improves knowledge and understanding of core concepts of engineering

• Be a mentor for the personal and peer growth

• Takes ownership of code base and its quality

• Defines and drives technology strategy

• Communicates effectively both verbally and written with various business partners

• Helps in bringing the team together as a whole

• Participates in and leads production support situations

• Teaches best practices and context to internal developers

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience

• 3 or more years of experience in at least one of the script languages: python, java, shell scripts

• 2 or more years of experience Cloud Platform Experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• 1 years of experience building highly scalable systems and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 or more years of relevant professional experience

• 1 or more years of experience with Cloud Data Warehouse (Red Shift AWS, Azure SQL DW, Google BigQuery)

• 1 or more years of experience with Modern JavaScript

• 1 or more CI/CD systems

• 1 or more years of traditional Cloud Software Development focusing on Back-End with Python (or Java)

• 1 or more years experience leading engineers to include mentoring, coaching, work direction, task assignment, etc.

• Excellent communication skills, especially when working with a distributed team

• Reviewing patterns, code and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on a daily basis

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
