The Senior Manager, Market Intelligence, will transform data into insights and insights to action by integrating and analyzing multiple data sources to enable better and more timely decision-making. They will apply modern methodologies and advanced strategic analysis approaches to develop insights and actionable recommendations.
Reporting into the Head, Corporate Strategy, this role offers a data-driven, strategic thinker the opportunity to make actionable recommendations to support strategic decision-making at CFA Institute. The Market Intelligence team is part of the Corporate Strategy team, which works on the organization's most critical business and growth initiatives. The team supports cross-functional business/product teams as well as growth initiatives by providing analysis and insights to support decisions about key product categories, customers and geographies.
Job Description:
As the Senior Manager, Market Intelligence you will have the opportunity to:
Support and advise the Head, Corporate Strategy, Leadership Team, and Product Leaders on strategic decision-making. Synthesize insights, observations and trends across multiple studies and sources that will enhance decision making; anticipate changing trends, opportunities and threats; and develop implications and recommendations for product and business strategies.
Competitive intelligence: Provide proactive and ongoing monitoring of the external environment to support business decisions across all functions utilizing advanced intelligence tools. Understand trends relevant to our market space to identify potential opportunities, ways to differentiate our brand and make threat assessments. Generate and deliver actionable insights using scenario planning to anticipate competitor moves based on financial intelligence, category forecasts, M&A activities, talent acquisition, etc. Collaborate with the Global Partnerships & Client Solutions team in gathering and analyzing competitive data during various stages of the sales cycle.
Lead market analysis activities to inform strategic evaluations of new market and product opportunities, including market sizing and demand studies, industry trend analysis, and strategic and financial analysis. Collaborate with our thought leadership and client solutions teams, and other SMEs, to optimize use of existing knowledge and research. Leverage market analysis tools (i.e., Porter's 5-forces, PEST, gap analysis, etc.) to develop a point of view of the market to identify potential entry/value areas. Identify white spaces where CFA Institute could have a meaningful impact.
Deliver fact-based customer understanding, root-cause analysis, and derive actionable customer insights that inform product demand, development, enhancements, pricing and related decisions. Collaborate with product managers, client solutions, and other voice of the customer teams in gathering, synthesizing and disseminating customer feedback and insights.
End-to-end strategic research project ownership including problem definition, hypothesis formulation, market research, analysis, market and financial modeling, insights development, presentation development and delivery.
Analyze data using appropriate statistical methods, strategic analysis tools, financial analysis, and model creation.
Create a market intelligence knowledge management "hub" to manage and disseminate key market intelligence assets (including primary and secondary research), working with internal partners to develop efficient and effective processes, information flows, and user experiences, with a focus on AI-powered answers and insights delivery instead of document search. Meta-learning: connect available expertise, studies and data points using knowledge management, machine learning and artificial intelligence, to provide immediate input into key business decisions.
Actively promote a culture of intellectual curiosity, and customer and market-driven decision making, participating in market intelligence forums/discussions, and developing and delivering presentations, insights and news on a regular cadence.
The skills and experience necessary for this role are:
8+ years' experience in a strategy, management consulting, and/or corp dev role developing growth strategies and identifying product opportunities and/or new markets. Knowledge of/experience in the Investment industry preferred
Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred
Analytical curiosity and ability to flex between big picture thinking and sharp attention to detail
Ability to create new and unique ideas and pressure test ides with strong strategic, analytical skills
Experience in modern, data-driven, and behavioral insights approaches such as design thinking, social listening, agile research platforms, and neuro/system 1 methodologies
Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive intelligence, and strategic analysis
Exceptional at finding trends in the data, articulating the "so what," and translating insights into strategic, actionable recommendations
Experience with data providers such as FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg, World Bank a plus
Ability to seek information, solve conceptual and complex problems, and deliver results.
Demonstrated ability to effectively build partnerships and influence stakeholders and decision making at all levels of a complex global organization
Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills - ability to find clear and compelling ways to communicate rich consumer insights to multi-functional partners with clear implications that drive action
