**Senior Database Developer**
Are you excited by the idea of designing and delivering next generation data warehouse solutions in a rapidly expanding team in a globally recognized financial institution? The senior database developer / architect would be responsible for leading the design and implementation of the data warehouse systems for the Global Markets Equities Data and Analytics group. **Responsibilities:**
Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
+ Translate business and technology requirements into database design models using modeling techniques for mixed workloads, such as OLTP, OLAP, streaming using any formats (structured, semi-structured, unstructured)
+ Lead end-to-end (conception, development, maintenance and evolution) implementation of technology solutions to manage data.
+ Work closely with development, support, DBA and business teams.
+ Perform end to end impact assessment for any technical change and how it may impact upstream and downstream systems and processes.
+ Implementing leading practices in supporting high availability, scalable, process and storage intensive solutions architectures to data integration/migration
**Basic Requirements:**
+ 10+ years of professional database development experience
+ Experience as a delivery lead, mentor and or leading an engineering team
+ Experience with data warehousing, analytics and reporting on a Petabyte scale
+ Proficient in SQL, data modeling, query tuning and optimization
+ Extensive knowledge and hands on experience with SQL writing queries, functions and stored procedures
+ Experience working on Oracle Exadata or HP Vertica (or other MPP databases)
+ Experience developing distributed multi-threaded systems
+ Hands on with scripting Shell, Perl or Python
+ Strong understanding of SDLC and Release Management
+ Ability to work under pressure, facilitate discussions and conduct group meetings
+ Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and integrity
+ Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or similar required
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ Experience in the financial industry is a plus
+ Knowledge of NoSQL databases / SQL-on-Hadoop technology (Hive, Impala)
+ Interest and experience with emerging DB trends such as data lakes, lake houses, etc.
+ Understanding of big data stack including Apache Storm, Kafka and Cassandra is a plus
+ Experience with BI tools like Cognos and Tableau is a plus
